Our aims and objectives
Our charity's objects are specili¢ally restricted to the following-.
8.The relief of unemployment for the public benefit in such ways as may be thought fit including
assistance to find employment by providing training and course5 in employability skills such as
time keeping, following instructions, CV building. team working. communication skills and
interview techniques.
b. To advance education and trainingamong unemployed people or peoplewho are not in
education, employment. or training INEETI in North Yorkshire by providing mentoring and
courses in lif e and functional skills and vocational training to improve their employment
opportuniiies.
Our activities In the year that dellver public benefit
HoTne educated
A dedicated provi8ion aimed at year 10 8nd ye8r 11 school students who are not attending
mainstream school and have been signe(J off school role as elected home educ8ted. At present
this is supporting 12 young people with a further 21 on the waiting list. This focuses on getting
young people who have been isolated and not getting any eduation back into a stuctured
provision that works on increasing contidence, lite skills and educational attainment with
functional skills maths & English. This project started in June 2024 and as such is too early to
report statistics other than those attending.
Youth Development
A holisitc PTOViSiOn aimed at young people aged 16 to 19 years who have struggled with
mainstream education, have poor mental health and need supportto moveforward with further
education or employment. This provision provides varied supportwrth small group work and
one to one all wtth the aim of increasing skills and opportunities. Young people engage in
sessions focused on a variety of skills such as educational, life skills and confidence building.
Sessions include functional ski118, art sessions, vists to the gym lor mental helath 8nd fitness as
well as workshop sessions. This yearwe have seen 46 young people access our provision. with a
further 5t0 start shortly. Results this year show42% ofyoung people engaged have progressed
onto either further education or employment. 15% withdrawn due to severe anxieties or
pregnancy 8nd the re8miming 4396 still activley engaged end working towards progressions.
Furniture Works
The workshop continues to support local people build skills and confidence in a practical w8y.
Ulilising donated furniture destined for land fill, clients engage with repairing or reusing each
piece of furniture with the intention of selling within our retail unit. This year we have seen
sessionsforwomen only adults andyoung peoplewith 38 people 8ccessingthe workshop and
gaining skills and confidence. The workshop has been successful in building skills that clients

Can take with them into their own home lives and continue to use in the future. As part Of this
project, the f urniture shop is also an opportunity for clients to gain experience in retail and build
customer service skills. It is also an opportunity to see the furniture that is worked on sold onto
someone who will treasure it. This is an amazing way of building confidence and self esteem.

paid for. Clients are proud that their work is appreciated but also that the profits rnade are
reinve*ed back into the organisation to help support more people.
Rise 2 Thrive
Woiking in partnership with Better Conn8Ct and the local authority. this UKSPF progr8mme
enables us to work with economicauy inactive adults as well as adults in work who are neuro
divergent and need extra support. Ourtarget8 for this progiamme are 28 clients reached and
engaged and sofar 22 have been engaged and 5 have achieved theifgoalswith a further6
months to go.
Principal Fundingsources
With the exception of a srnall income, generated from our retail unit, our pricipal funding is
generated frorn grants and contracts. Current main grants are received frorn the Nation81
Lottery Communtiy Fund and Children in Need with smaller grants and contracts received from
the local authority IUKSPFI and national grant funders. The focus for future funding is core
funding to ensure seNices continue io grow and develop without the need for reinvention of new
projects.
Reserves
The trustees have agreed that a minimum of 3 months roserves need to be maintained and
these are at present over 3 months. Trustees 8re 8W8re that ￿serveS are being utilised to fill
shortfalls in staff funding until new gr8nt$ can be sourced.
Structure, Govemanc6 & Mangement
The organsiation is a registered charitable company. registered as such on the 9, July 2023. The
organisation was originally founded in March 2011 as a ¢ommuntiy interest company by
founders Michelle Padron-Kitchin8 and Sarah Thornton. Upon the conveTsion ol the charity. both
Michelle and Sarsh were designated as Chief Executive Officers of the charity.
The directors may at any time appoint a person who is wilttng to act to be a director and may be
remoeved by 81ther resignation, ill health or removed due to non attendance of meetings within
a six month period wtthout permission.
All members of the trustee board give their time voluntarily and receive no benefits from the
charity. Tru5teg meetings are held quartlery with full agendas and minutes prodcued and
disemin8ted.
