Review of activities 2024
25
The Friends of Hull General Cemetery are satisfied that since incorporation our work wa5 consistent
with our aims as defined in our Constitution.
Durin8the year-
Our new web srte includingthe searchable burials database went live in March 2025 and has
been 3 great success. We have received many enquiries about the location of graves and
positive feedback from people searching for lost ancestors. The response has been world-
wide. and several descendants have paid visits to the cemetery to locate grave site5.
After much delay the volunteers have restored the Wilson Familytomb. This was a major
engineering project. and the Trustees and Wilson family are well pleased with the result.
We maintained our ongoing relationship with the Hull and East Yorkshire Volunteers. We
have received several offers of help from prospective volunteers through the new web site.
We continued our programme of restoration and repair of memorials and headstones which
have fallen. become hidden or damaged.
Assist public in locating the graves of ancesto¥s and providing additional family research
assistance at no cost. The new web site has proved its value a5 a research tool for the
benefit of all.
Continued our biographical research of persons and relatives buried in the Hull General
Cemetery. The results being published on our facebook pa8e, web site or in book form.
Flnancial Review
It is the aim of the Trustees to retain three to six months core operating costs in the unrestricted
8eneral fund to ensure a sufficient buffer to enable effective financial decision-making, rather than short
term decisions, and the Trustees will work towards achieving this by additional fundraisin8 attivitie5. The
trustees decided to open a second interest-bearing savings account in order to offset the impendin8
charges on our current account. The account holds the bulk of our reserve funds.
