Overall
Summary of the main Para 1.20 achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole.
Over the past year, Hayle Pilot Gig Rowing Club CIO has made significant contributions to both its members and the wider community, delivering positive outcomes for individuals and society as a whole, in the following ways: -
- Promoting Physical Health and Wellbeing: Through regular training sessions, community events, and competitions, the club has provided numerous opportunities for individuals of all ages and abilities to engage in physical activity. This has led to
improved physical health and mental well-being for our members, as well as fostering a sense of camaraderie and social support within the club. ● Youth Engagement and Development: The club’s commitment to youth programmes has been a standout achievement. Our structured coaching and competition opportunities for U14s and U16s have encouraged young people to develop their skills, build confidence, and form friendships. Hosting the CPGA Under 14 Championships allowed us to positively impact young rowers from across the UK, giving them an opportunity to showcase their talents in a supportive environment. ● Inclusive Access to Sport: By offering rowing opportunities to a broad range of people, including those from underrepresented groups, we have worked to ensure that gig rowing is accessible to all. Our taster sessions and social rowing events have encouraged more individuals from the community to participate in a sport they might not have otherwise experienced. ● Community Representation and Pride: Through our participation in regional and national competitions, including the World Pilot Gig Championships, the club has brought pride to the local community. Our achievements on the competitive stage have helped raise the profile of both the club and the town of Hayle, contributing to a strong sense of local identity and pride. ● Volunteer Development and Community Involvement: The charity has continued to nurture a strong culture of volunteering, training members to take on key roles such as coxing and event organisation. This has not only supported the club’s operations but has also enhanced the personal skills of volunteers, providing them with new experiences and a
sense of contribution to the community. Membership Given the changes to our membership structure this year we have maintained largely the numbers of total members from last year although the composition has changed to include a large Junior section this year.
