## Governance Statement 

The trustees confirm that Bridgend Swim Club has operated in accordance with its governing document and complied with the requirements of the Charity Commission for England and Wales. 

The board met regularly throughout the year to oversee the strategic direction, financial management, and safeguarding of the club. 

## 3.  Objectives & Public Benefit 

## Charitable Objectives 

The objects of Bridgend Swim Club are to promote participation in swimming for the benefit of the public, particularly by providing opportunities for coaching, competition, and community engagement. 

## Public Benefit Statement 

The trustees confirm that they have complied with the duty under the Charities Act to have due regard to public benefit guidance. The club provides: 

- Accessible swimming opportunities for all ages and abilities 

- Structured coaching pathways for skill development 

- Competitive opportunities at local, regional, and national level 

- A safe, inclusive, and community-focused environment

The club continued to strengthen its reputation as a key community sports organisation within Bridgend. 

## 5.  Safeguarding & Welfare 

Bridgend Swim Club remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of safeguarding. 

- A designated Welfare Officer is in place 

- All coaches and volunteers are appropriately vetted 

- Safeguarding policies are reviewed annually 

- Any safeguarding queries or incidents are dealt with appropriately and, where required, in liaison with National Governing Body safeguarding representatives

## Reserves Policy 

The club aims to maintain reserves equivalent to approximately 6 months of operating expenditure to ensure financial sustainability. The closing bank balance at 30 June 2025 was £49,978. 

Note: Steps have been taken to increase membership fees modestly and reorganise pool sessions to target break-even in the coming financial year.
