Chair’s Report

26[th] June 2023. We decided to take this step coming from a voluntary organisation in order to enable us to apply for grants more readily, to improve our available equipment and facilities.

from having a “committee” to “trustees”.

In Q2 of 2023, the company we hired a training space from, Wycombe Gymnastics Academy, unfortunately had to vacate their premises. We had to find a place to train temporarily very quickly to finish the year and then source a more permanent location. We initially hired from the local university: Bucks New University but then found a space at Millbrook school in High Wycombe.

8[th] July 2023 – we had our usual end of year awards with most in attendance. This is an annual event for us, handing out medals, awards and recognising everyone’s hard work and achievements for the season. As usual, parents of athletes were also invited.

After this time unfortunately, going into the next season, we saw a severe drop in our numbers, from over 40 to around 10, not including coaches. Our numbers dropped due to several reasons:

In order to try and counter this, we successfully applied for an won a grant with Heart of Bucks - the amount awarded was £5237 and with this, we purchased mats and a tumble track. Unfortunately, however, our numbers did not increase for all our efforts.

26[th] May 2024 we attended our first dance competition, taking on group of four and one soloist as this was all we had that were competition ready. The group was a new category for us, and the dancers were awarded 4[th] and 1[st] place respectively.

Towards the end of this time period, a few of our trustees and coaches also had immense life changes: including ongoing health issues, family changes and employment changes. Jason Henry had decided to resign.

Since losing our space at Wycombe Gymnastics Academy, our little family had not felt the same. We have not run a session since July 2024 and the official decision to close the charity was made January 2025 with all the trustees in complete agreement.

We have always been a very simple organisation, so accounts are very straight forward. As we have not been running since July 2024, there is very little in terms of accounts to review. We had a small turnover into the next financial year and plan to use this to pay for any leftover invoices due.

student union at Bucks New University for their cheerleading squad, as they are also a registered charity. We did not use the entirety of the allocated funds from the grant from Heart of Bucks, and so we will use the funds from selling the mats to offset this, leaving us debt free and in a financial position to close.

I want to take the opportunity to thank each and every athlete that has been through our doors since 2012. This was a particular dream that I was incredibly passionate about, and I am sure we all will look back with fond memories.
