Although small in amount. Ihese grants, in rnany Instances. provide a vital stirnulus for the thaTity workers involved. Ws are also cognisanl of the fact that a nUTnber of local charities have, in a sense, becorne dependent upon the annual grants from our trust. Such charitiès have to provide us with regular activity reports and delals of their financial accounts. Care is taken lo ensuro that previou5 grant monles have been expended for good purpose. Our Gharity will continue its closè relationship with the Bayli5 Community CIC, which publishes The Newspapers. The TTUStees are committed lo ensure that the unique relationship continue5. We will con11nue lo work closely wllh The Newspaper8 vtho proiride an Important source of publieity regarding our local grants and the impact they have on the community. We Iruslees are consGYou$ of our responsibilities underthe EqualityAct 2010. We activety en(x)urage applications for grants from all sectlons of the communities of Maidenhead, Windsor, Slough. Burnham, Twyford and Marfow. We do not like lo set benchmarks in regard to what proportlon of our grant monies arg allocated to particular needs groups although it is tru8 to say that the bulk of our donations are for the benefrt of the elderty, young and disadvantaged. 11 is not our geneRI poficy to make donallon8 lo Individuas however worthy those applicants may be. During the period in question the charily's to1￿ incoming ￿sOurceS were £11.131,792, including £11,"125.197 of funds transfèrrèd from the Louis Baylis (Maidenhead Advertiser) Charitable Trust, with resources expended of £4,678, including grants and donations tRade of £3,080. Thé governanc8 cos15 of the charity were £1,598. The fttnds of the d)arity were an unreslrlcted general .charity of £556.693. an expend8ble endowment of £6.547,244 and a permanent endowrnenl of £4,022,177. Going concem The Iruslees hava ctsnsiderèd thb period ol al least twelve months from the date of approval of the balance sheet on making Ihelr assessment. Despite uncertainties SLTrrounding the carrying value of the inveslrNenl'portfollo and. the expe¢led investment incorne that will be generated from these investments going forwards, the Trustees ar& confident that they have suffieient cash raserves to gnoble lo meet liabil￿eS as they fau due. The trustees review the grant-maknng policy annualty to ensure it remains appropriate to the strategic direction of the charity and ils objects and thereby advances public tsen&fiL To this end, the trustees annu￿lY review tti& trust's granl-making procedures. In 1962 the proprietor of tho Maldenhead Advertiser, Louis Baylis, created a Charitable Trust which Continues to bear his name.-Thè charitys funds constitute a significant investment portfolio. togather with the entire issued share capi18t of Baylis Media Limited, the publlsher of The Maidenhead Advertiser, Tha Slough Express and The Wndsor and Elon Express 'The Newspapers..
