SOS SERBIAN POINTER & PALS RESCUE
TRUSTEES REPORT
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31ST MARCH 2025
OBJECTIVES AND ACHIEVEMENTS
SOS Serbian Pointers and Pals Rescue was formed for the benefit of the public to relieve the suffering of dogs in Serbia and Romania who are in need of care and attention and in particular, to maintain and support rescue facilities for the reception, care and treatment of such animals. To provide safe facilities of private kennel and boarding costs for dogs in both Serbia and Romania and the UK while actively seeking homes for dogs in our care. Undertake spay and neutering campaigns with local rescuers.
This year has been a challenge with increasing travelling costs to the UK and seen several sponsors reducing or stopping their sponsorships. However we have put measures in place by increasing our online auctions to monthly opposed to quarterly which is bringing in consistent funds each month and this has generated interest with new members joining our group. In addition this we running ongoing fundraisers from start to end each month ensuring we have enough funds by the end of the month to pay for all bills.
The main objectives are to ensure all dogs in our care receive monthly support to cover upkeep fees. Using Facebook as our main platform of contact, we are continuing to educate members of animal welfare issues across the Balkans and prevent suffering in the future.
The Trustees have completed the Annual Report and financial statements for SOS Serbian Pointer and Pals Rescue for the year ending 31.03.2025. The financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011, the Companies House Act 2006, the Memorandum and Articles of Association and Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommendation Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with their Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and the Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) effective 1 January 2015.
Jan Murray has worked tirelessly in our monthly auctions with donating items, making monthly appeals for donations and Facebook updates.
Michelle Mellor volunteered for several months in running and promoting our other fundraisers and assisting the Trustees with general administration and support.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
SOS Serbian Pointer and Pals Rescue continues, where possible to rescue dogs from the streets and Public Shelters, provides private pensions/kennels, arranges veterinary care when required and rehoming of unwanted dogs.
Suitable dogs are promoted for foster / adoption in GB. We also educate our members and adopters on animal welfare issues both in Serbia and GB through the platform of Facebook. Adoptions have fallen significantly due to the cost of living crisis however we are starting to gain more interest and activity from 2023/24.
Volunteers are required to support the Trustees with fundraising and administrative duties going forward into the next financial year.
Reserve funds are in place to use for any emergencies namely for veterinary and travel costs.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
Gross income from all sources for this year stands at £84,057. The majority of this is generated by sponsorship and general donations. Over the year, there was a total expenditure of £84,540, the majority of this being kennel fees and general upkeep expenses in both Serbia, Romania and GB and veterinary costs. The amount of reserve held at year end was £1,695.
A separate savings account was set up in October 2024 where we can separate and hold funds to pay for vet fees, travel and general expenses.
