TRUSTEES REPORT

FOR THE 10 MONTHS PERIOD ENDED 31ST MARCH 2024

OBJECTIVES AND ACHIEVEMENTS

SOS Serbian Pointers and Pals Rescue was formed for the benefit of the public to relieve the suffering of dogs in Serbia and Romania who are in need of care and attention and in particular, to maintain and support rescue facilities for the reception, care and treatment of such animals. To provide a safe facilities of private kennel and boarding costs for dogs both in Serbia and Romania and the UK while actively seeking homes for dogs in our care. Undertake spay and neutering campaigns with local rescuers.

We have maintained a strong database of sponsors to help pay for ongoing monthly upkeep costs. However with the cost of living crisis, we have seen a notable decrease in regular sponsors and support to various fundraising events. This has lead the group to focus on more target driven fundraising campaigns and the need to apply for charity grants to make ends meet each month. As a result, fundraisers and further appeals are needed to cover the monthly shortfalls, vet bills and pay for spay and neutering campaigns. Thanks to our great volunteers and support from our members, we have been able to reach our targets each month, raising enough funds to ensure are bills are paid to keep our dogs safe.

Appeals for fosters are also made so we can travel dogs to the UK and reduce our outgoings and free up much needed space so more dogs can be rescued in Serbia. For dogs that have travelled to the UK and haven't found appropriate homes / failed adoptions, we use boarding kennels and also provide behavioural experts when required.

The Trustees have completed the Annual Report and financial statements for SOS Serbian Pointer and Pals Rescue for the year ending 31.03.2024. The financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011, the Companies House Act 2006, the Memorandum and Articles of Association and Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommendation Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with their Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) effective 1 January 2015.

Jan Murray has consistently lead our fundraising each month and comes up with new ideas to generate more interest within the group, attracting more members to participate.

More volunteers are needed to support with fundraising and administrative duties going forward into the next financial year.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE

Serbian Pointer and Pals Rescue continues, where possible to rescue dogs from the streets and Public Shelters, provides private pensions/kennels, arranges veterinary care when required and rehoming of unwanted dogs.

Suitable dogs are promoted for foster / adoption in the UK. We also educate our members and adopters on animal welfare issues both in Serbia and GB through the platform of Facebook.

FINANCIAL REVIEW

Gross income from all sources for this year stands at £62,513. The majority of this is generated by sponsorship and general donations. Over the year, there was a total expenditure of £61,261, the majority of this being kennel fees and general upkeep expenses in both Serbia, Romania and the UK and veterinary costs.

Currently there are no reserves held due to the rescues' everyday expenses and increasing costs, mainly being kennel fees and veterinary costs.

Setting up a savings account is currently being discussed, which will be used for reserves should we need to take any emergency rescues.
