During the period of this annual report the Master’s House has been used by a number of these community groups including:

In addition to assisting the above user groups The Master’s House operated an IT drop-in session for residents on Friday afternoons. This was delivered in partnership with Sky through their Sky-Up initiative. The Trustees are extremely grateful to Sky for their ongoing support and provision of broadband and access to electronic tablets for the user of residents.

A key activity, and one of the key driving forces behind the creation of the CIO, during the first year of operation was creation a Warm Welcome Space to serve and support members of the community.

The Aims of the Braithwell and Micklebring ‘Warm Welcome’ Space were to:

 Provide some financial respite from the current cost of living crisis. The ‘Warm Welcome’ Space has delivered against these objectives and seen increased attendance at the sessions. The Warm Welcome Space was delivered  created an environment where residents of all ages meet and to improve intergenerational interactions thereby building upon the work started through the village’s response to the pandemic;  provided refreshments (teas, coffees, soft drinks and snacks) and hot soup for those would like to;  provided a warm and welcoming environment where residents could stay as long as they liked, this gave them the opportunity to turn off their own heating at home – thereby assisting with the cost of living crisis and massive increase in energy bills.  provided an opportunity for residents who wish to contribute to their community can volunteer either in the warm space itself or in providing a taxi service to chauffeur residents to the Master’s House.  created an environment where residents sought help and support for any issues they were facing, this largely took the form of signposting but on occasions involved, when there were a number of people experiencing the same issue, guest speakers or experts to explore solutions. This was delivered occasionally with the support of CDC community support.

Contribution made by
volunteers
The Master’s House would not have been able to function or
provide its valuable community work without the dedicated hard
work of the fantastic group of volunteers - ‘Friends of the Master’s
House’. The trustees are grateful for the many hours the volunteers
have spent fundraising, looking after residents and making the
Master’s House Warm Welcome Space such an amazing success.

The charity’s principal sources The Master’s House was awarded two public grants during 23-24 of funds (including any £500 each from the Braithwell with Micklebring Parish Council and fundraising) City of Doncaster Council to support the fantastic work of the Warm Welcome Space. This reflects the incredible work done by the ‘ Friends of the Master’s House’ volunteers to tackle loneliness and social isolation following the pandemic.

Other optional information

The coming year will see several challenges for the trustees as there is significant repair work needed to the fabric of the Master’s House, including the roof and attic space. Additional fundraising and grant applications will need to be sourced to ensure the future of the organisation and the building itself. The Trustees are working the Friends of the Master House to explore volunteer expertise in making successful grant applications and future fundraising.
