**Section C                    Objectives and activities** 

The charity’s objects are to advance the Islamic faith in accordance with the Al Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and following the Shia Ithna Asheri teachings and traditions for the public benefit, mainly but not exclusively by: 

- Provision of Islamic religious education, producing and/or distributing material, and holding events about the Islamic religion.

   - Promoting good mental health and spiritual wellbeing, in particular (but not exclusively) for Muslim women. 

   - - Promoting multicultural and religious harmony between Muslims and nonMuslims to foster mutual understanding and tolerance. 

   - Preventing or relieving poverty by providing grants to individuals in need and/or charities or other organizations working to prevent or relieve poverty worldwide. 

   - 1) Islamic religious education: The charity organised online lectures, classes and workshops on the Quran, the Sunnah and Shia Ithna Asheri traditions. Teachings were also shared through community-level talks, seminars and educational webinars. 

- 2) Mental health and spiritual wellbeing During the year 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025, Lantern of Light focused on faith-based mental health and spiritual support, providing safe spaces for growth and trauma-informed healing. Key activities included: 

- - 1:1 mentoring: faith-based mental health support provided to 12 women.

**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** 

   - Provision of intensive 1:1 spiritual and emotional mentoring for 12 women and monthly healing circles for 30 to 40 participants. 

   - - Serenity Sisters Retreat 2025 welcomed 55 women, including international participants. 

   - Digital engagement grew to 3,750+ followers and 3,140 YouTube subscribers. 

   - - Ten youth volunteers led service projects, including feeding 100 homeless people during Ramadan. 

   - - Representation of UK Muslim women at the World Council of Churches Summit in Switzerland.

- Impact feedback indicated: - 80% of participants reported a deeper connection to faith and community. 

   - 90% of participants in healing programs felt empowered to manage mental health challenges. 

   - - 75% of interfaith event attendees reported reduced misconceptions about Islam. 

   - - Daily online support was sustained for over 140 women globally.

## **Section E                    Financial review** 

Total income for the year was £104,866 (2024: £15,795), primarily from **Brief statement of the** donations, retreat/event income and Gift Aid. Total expenditure for the **charity’s policy on reserves** year was £73,077.00 (2024: £11,025), relating mainly to grants paid, retreat/event costs and administration. 

Total funds comprised of restricted funds of £14,428 and unrestricted funds of £22,131. Restricted funds relate to restricted donations and event income received for specific purposes and may only be applied in accordance with the relevant restrictions. 

## **Reserves policy** 

The charity’s reserves policy aims to maintain sufficient unrestricted funds to cover at least three months of core operational expenses, allowing continued service provision in the event of unforeseen circumstances. Unrestricted funds as at 31 March 2025 were £22,131 **,** which the Trustees consider to be in line with this policy.
