Volunteers: Luton Africa Hope could not offer its support without the incredible and literal army of volunteers who give their time and resources. Volunteers bake cakes, make meals, visit people with needs, translate and interpret documents from English to French, Lingala, and more. This year has been particularly challenging in retaining and recruiting volunteers.
Achievements and Performance:
As the charity was registered in June 2023 and will end on 31 December 2023, no activities were undertaken during this initial period. The trustees have been focused on establishing the foundational structures necessary for future operations, including administrative setup, strategic planning, and community engagement strategies.
Financial Review:
Members and volunteers conducted self-funded activities such as visits to members under immigration controls and provided signposting to NHS services. Additionally, we facilitated access to immigration solicitors for advice and provided interpreting services for GP appointments.
No public activities were conducted during this period, so no financial transactions existed. The charity did not receive any income nor incur any expenditure. The trustees are committed to ensuring robust financial management and will implement appropriate financial controls as the charity begins its activities in the forthcoming year.
Plans for Future Periods:
Luton Africa Hope plans to initiate its core activities in the coming year. The trustees aim to:

Organise regular prayer meetings and lectures to engage the community.

Celebrate key religious festivals to foster community spirit and inclusivity.

Develop and distribute informative literature to educate and inspire individuals about the Christian faith.

Provide volunteer training on first aid and safeguarding children activities.

Organise youth events, a cultural day, and activities to help individuals discover Luton.
The trustees are dedicated to making a positive impact in the Luton community by promoting the values and teachings of Christianity.
