The organisation is in the process of adopting a variety of Policies e.g. Safeguarding, GDPR, EDI etc., The Trustees are liaising with their local county voluntary council for these documents.
Defibbers Cymru work closely with the NHS Executive, Save a Life Cymru who are organisations that provide up to date information for Defibbers Cymru to produce the information booklet. This ensures the information is always up to date. The Organisation gets support from health professionals to provide more information for patients with Implantable Cardiac Defibrillator (ICD).
The Trustees are currently working on a variety of Policies.

Section C Objectives and activities
The objects of the CIO are:
To promote and protect the physical health and wellbeing of persons and their families throughout Wales who have an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) or a cardiac resynchronisation with therapy (CRT) by:

Publishing and distributing information booklets on the conditions of living with an implantable cardiac device.

Providing advice to patients who are pre-implant or post-implant on expectations of what it is like living with an ICD/CRT-D.

Facilitating meetings and conferences to give an opportunity for information sharing between patients, carers, health professionals and guest speakers.

• Working in partnership with organisations to improve the health care for persons with ICD/CRT-D, across NHS Wales services.

Defibbers Cymru have successful secured funding from Save a Life Cymru to produce an Information Booklet that patients are given prior to implant of an ICD. The booklet has been produced with the support of the NHS Executive.
The booklet is a source of information to give confidence to patients that life goes on after an implant. This booklet is passed to family, friends, and employers so that there is more understanding of the affect of an implant on an individual.

The official launch of the information booklet has taken place.
Future strategies:
It is intended to look at Defibbers Cymru being the umbrella body for smaller support groups across Wales to be established. This will be a long term strategy as the volunteers are members with implants, family and friends.

Defibbers Cymru continue to be led by volunteers. The volunteers are very active within their communities.
Excellent links have been made with NHS professionals which has enable the organisation to develop a Cymru wide organisation.

The booklet is being distributed within the Health Boards of: Betsi Cadwaladr, Aneurin Bevan, Cardiff and Vale, Cwm Taf Morgannwg and Swansea Bay/Hywel Dda University Health Boards.
Each booklet has a questionnaire which directs the information required within the booklet which is being requested by members and patients.

Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
Defibbers Cymru was established in 2023. The organisation secured funding from Save a Life Cymru to produce Information booklets for patients who are being told they need an ICD/CRT-D.
The organisations secured National Lottery Awards For All Wales grant to support the organisation to develop and advertise the organisation. An official launch event took place on 28[th] November 2024 at Cardiff Metropolitan University, Cardiff. Invited guests were able to hear our members journeys. The medical professionals in attendance could not speak highly enough about the essential support organisations such as Defibbers Cymru provide to the community.

Defibbers Cymru principal sources of funds are via Grant applications. During this period the organisation has been successful in securing Save a Life Cymru grants and were recently awarded a grant from National Lottery Awards for All Wales grant.
The grant is Restricted funding and is ‘ring fenced’ for the specifically as per the Terms and Conditions of the grant. Separate budget headings have been set up to ensure budgets are adhered too. The Trustees are aware of the budget available.
The grant application has ensuring that the information for patients is clear.
