Trustees’ Annual Report For the year ended 31 December 2024 Registered Charity No: 1203500 

## 1. Introduction 

The trustees of Sudanese School Cardiff have prepared this report for the financial year 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2024, in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011. 

## 2. Charitable Objects 

The charity’s objects are: 

_“To advance the education of children and young people of Sudanese heritage in the UK by providing supplementary education in Arabic language, Quranic studies, and Sudanese culture.”_ 

## 3. Activities during the Year 

In 2024, the charity: 

- Delivered weekly Saturday classes in Arabic, Quran, and Islamic studies to over 120 students. 

- Organised cultural events including Eid celebrations, Arabic reading competitions, and Independence Day activities. 

- Provided Arabic textbooks (sold at cost) to support learning. 

- Operated from Cathays High School, Cardiff, under a formal hire agreement. 

## 4. Governance 

The charity is governed by five trustees: 

1. Elfadil Hussein (Chair) 

2. Mahir Tajelsir 

3. Hadiel Kulaib 

4. Mohamed Babeker Ahmed 

5. Insaf Salah 



All trustees serve voluntarily and receive no remuneration. 

## 5. People 

- Employees: 10 permanent, 5 fixed-term, 5 self-employed (unchanged from 2023) 

- Volunteers: 5 (increased from 0 in 2023) 

- All staff involved in teaching have received safeguarding training. 

## 6. Safeguarding 

The charity has a Safeguarding Policy in place. 

- Standard DBS checks: Yes 

- Enhanced DBS checks: No (consistent with 2023) 

## 7. Financial Review 

- Total Income: £55630.00 

- Total Expenditure: £50,069 

- Closing Balance: £14,356.66 

- The charity maintains sufficient reserves to cover 3 months of core costs. 

## 8. Future Plans (2025) 

- Expand digital learning resources 

- Increase outreach to newly arrived Sudanese families 

- Review safeguarding and DBS policy
