Heaven On Severn was able to complete the purchase of the Wribbenhall Community Centre on 29, August 2024. sin then, we have worked to renovate and improve the fabric of the building and its facilities, in order to provide a safe and welcoming space for both Bewdley Spiritualist Church and members of the surrounding community, who are able to use the building for a range of clubs, events and meetings. Bewdley Spiritualist Church has increased the n4Jmber of church services that it has each month. The congregation has continued to increase in numbers for both the Divine services and the Healing services. The Ministets of the church have worked with the community, for example, by providing funeral services at the local crematorium, undertaking services at other nearby Spiritualist Churches and visiting the sick in local hospitals. The church services provide a valuable means of connecting with, and providing social inclusion for, anyone who is at risk of becoming socially excluded, due to illness, infirmityi age etc. The Trustee5 acknowledge the valuable contribution made by the team of healers who volunteer to provide their healing services, free of charge. Each healer has undergone a lengthy period of training and is fully insured with the appropriate National Healing body. In addition to the church services, several social events have been organised, to encourage those who do not have a religious belief to engage with others in their local community, for example at an afternoon tea, complementary therapy training event or workshop. Where Trustees are aware of those experiencing financial difficulties, attendan at these social or training events may be at a reduced cost or free of charge, to ensLEre that everyone who would benefit fmm attending, has the chance to do so.
The Centre provided acommunity Warm Space from November- March, allowing those at risk of social exclusion on the grounds of poverty, age, infirmity or ethnicity to have a place where they would feel welcome. The warm space was availablefor them to attend twice a week, to enjoy warmth, friendshipi companionship and free actr"vlties. The scheme attracted a regular clientele, who enjoyed the opportunity to come together in a safe and warm space. The Centre has been opened up to community groups who wantto meet and enjoy social time togethei. Key Use include U3A groups for Textiles, Craft, Scrabble, Backgammon and Cribbage. The Centre is used by 3 range of other groups, including a Babies and Toddlers group, a local school for children with Special Educational Needs, and a slimming group.
