## **Objectives and Activities** 

To educate Muslims from all walks of life, especially young Muslims, in all aspects of its spiritual and religious development. ## **Additional information** 

Policy on grant making During this financial period 15 volunteers regularly assisted with the distribution of the quarterly journal Contribution made by volunteers which is delivered door to door. All of the trustees also gave their time on a voluntary basis.

Over the last financial<br>year, the following has been achieved:<br>4 issues of the journal (16-page) were printed and<br>distributed in:<br>May 2024 (1250 copies)<br>August 2024 (1250 copies)<br>November 2024 (1250 copies)<br>Jan 2025 (1250 copies)<br>In every issue we have a children’s page and a<br>competition for the children to benefit from and<br>participate in. 2 correct entries are chosen at<br>random and awarded with a prize.|

1250 booklets related to how to make the blessed month of Ramadhan fruitful were purchased and distributed free of charge as were 25 guide books for those performing the blessed pilgrimage to the lands of Makkah and Madinah. To further our activities, trustees have been actively searching for a suitable property to purchase. A few properties were identified and visited; however, no further progress was made. The search continues. Al-Madinah is looking to further its projects over the next year, with the purchase of a new building and starting classes its main priority.

|Description of charity’s trusts:|Al-Madinah Institute is a registered charity under the<br>charity number: 1203391 The charity trustees are<br>responsible for general control and management of<br>the charity. They meet at fixed intervals and are<br>responsible for all decisions in relation to the charity.<br>Each trustee is delegated specific responsibilities to<br>carry out like finance and publications etc. As the<br>charity is in its infant stages there is no need to hand<br>over responsibilities to sub committees, but this will be<br>an option in the future as the charity progresses.|

## Note 1 **Basis of preparation** 

## **1.1 Basis of accounting** 

These accounts have been prepared on the basis of historic cost (except that investments are shown at market value) in accordance with: 

- Accounting and Reporting by Charities – Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP 2005); 

•  and with*  Accounting Standards; or Financial Reporting Standards for Smaller Enterprises (FRSSE); 

- and with the Charities Act. 

## **Income** 

Income is accounted for on a receipts basis.

Resources expended are accounted for as the liability is incurred. Expenditure includes irrecoverable VAT which is reported as part of the expenditure to which it relates.
