Report of Trustees for the year ending 31 March 2025
The Trvslees present their Annual Report and accounts for the year ending 31 March
2025. The Trust is a charitable incorporated organisation with inc(wne and expenditure
below £25.000, the Trtsstees have opted to prepare the accounts using receipts and
payments accounting principles consistenl with the Charty CommissK)n guidance.
Objectives and Actlvltles
P￿On Nature Trust was established in March 2023 and was registe￿0 by the Chanty
Comrnissic￿ as a Chantable Incorporated OrganisatK)n on 2nd June 2023. Registered
chanty number 1203375.
The objects of the Trust are -(a) To promote for the benefrt of the public the ¢￿seyvO￿.0n.
protection aThJ improvement of the physical and natural environment by promoting
bicKliversity. and (b) To advance the education of the public in the conservation proteCt￿n
a￿1 inwrovement of the physical and natural environmenr.
This ts the seco￿1 year the tharity ha5 nc>w secured a lon*term management agreeft￿rnt
with pffton & Farfey Partsh Council to manage an 0.2 acres of The Ck)se to create a
biodiverse habrtat. Fruit t￿es, wildfk)wer bulbs and seeds have all been planled during
the year.
The trustees have engag￿ with Wllshire Counal aThJ Pitton & Farfey Parish Council to
create a rbew communty cychard and nature reserve on land currentty owned by Wfiltshire
Council that will be transfefred to the Parish Council on a 125 year lease. The aim is for
the charity to have a long term management agreement viith the Parish Council to manage
this afea of land. Towards the end of the reporting peri(MJ work commenced with fen
erected, hedge trees and fruit trees planted.
A key activity for the charity is to provKle infomation to the public to enhance their
knowledge of conseDiatson, protection arKI improvement of the natural environment. This
is achieved through regular posts on our website and events.

Iwo orchards. one in The Close consisting of five fruit trees and one in the Community

hedgerow in Community Orchard and Nature Reserve.

Creation of Biodiverse Habitats..
The Tfustees have Iwo main projects they are currently work1r￿ on to delwef the Trust's
objects to enharbce biodiversty.
The charrty has a long-term management agreement wrth the Parish Courbcil to create a
biodivepJe environment on this area of land
In March 2024 the Trust re￿iVed £1,900 in grant fur*ding from the Wessex Water
Environment Fund vthich provmled funding to purchase equipment to manage The Close
and enable the charrty to purchase wildfiower plugs and seed.
During 2024r25 snowdrops and wibJfiower seed were sown as part of the management
plan to attract an increased numbw of pollinators.
FOllowi￿j a sucKesslul grant application to the Coronat'on ￿'Ving Hentage Orchard fund
five frurt trees We￿ planted as part of a c(Nnmunity event. One tree was planied by the
preschool thihyren, one by a lrfelorKJ reswjent of the village who ts in his nineties, olhers
were plante(I by a volunteer, the chair of the Parish Council and Trustees.

Ouriry the year volunteers have conducted surveys, of grasses. wildfiowers and insecis
found in The Close. The results of these supieys are pUbl￿he￿ on our website.

In July 2023 the Charity launcw a survey within the local C￿lMunity io estsblish if there
was support for the creation of a Ccmmunty Orchard and Nature Reserve on land that
Vthltshire Council own&1 at RouThdbarrow Farm. The resp￿Se demonstrated there was
strong support for the proposal wth tsv￿ thirty people offering to volunteer to establish and
maintain the orchard.
In September the Trust submitted a proposal to Pitton & Farfey Parish Council and
V+Altshtre Council for the creaiion of a Ccffimunity Orchard and nature reserve on ￿NShire
Council owned land at Roundbarrow Fanh.
During 2024125 Ihe trustees continued lo engage with Wittshire Council and the Parish
Council over the transfer of an acre of land from Wiltshire Council to the Parish cou￿11.
The intention being Ihe charty will have a long-term managernenl with the Parish Ccmjncil
to create a biodiverse community O￿ard and nature reseive on Ihe site.

Collaboration and Engagomont Report
The Chanty has formed a strong collaboralion wrth Prtton & Farley Pansh Council wrth
whom it has a seven year marwement agreement for The Close. It has worked closety
with the Council over the land transfer from ￿ttShire Council for the creat￿n of the
convnunty orchard and nature reserye.
When planting the frurt trees in The Close we were assisted by children from tPE
PreS¢P￿1. Trustees also helped at a session to plant trees at the village primary school.
The local Girf Guides group were involved in the Constr[￿tIOn of a bughouse in The Close.
During the year we have forged close links with Ihe Ic¢al RSPB team who will be creating
a new reseNe on land at Roundbarrow Fami.
In October 2024 we held an event to update the ￿mmunity on the work of the charty and
invrted Patrick Cashman, the RSPB Chalk County Reserves Site Manager to present on
their plans for RourKlbarrow Fam.
Trustees attended village fete and ran a slall lo educate the community on the woth of
the charity.

Flnanclal Revlew
The total Income for the year was £6.227 induding a grant of £4,847 from the Coronation
Living Heritage Orchard Fund.
The event in October 2024 raised funds and there have been a nurrthr of public dC￿allOr
which have helped the charity estsblish a secure financial posthon.

As a rthv charity the locus for the Trustees has been to ensure the￿ are sufficient furKJs to
deliver propcts. The pOI￿Y has ttrtrefore been io establish suffiaenl furbds to operate t
chanty. As the charity becon*s more estsblished this policy will be reviewe(l.
Plans for the futurg
The Truslees plan for 2025126 is to continue to improve the nature biodiversty in The
Close and to create a Cofflmunity Orchard and Nature Reserve on the land due to be
transferred from Wiltshire Council to Prtton & Farley Parish Council.
The trustees will continue to engage with the Parish Council over a long-tefm rnanagement
agreement to create a biodiverse habilat in the new ccrfnmunity orchard & nature reserve.

proximity to Pitton.
As the charty's actsvrties expand so will the need for addth'onal funds. The trustees will
conlinue to expkjre sutsble grant fundiTh3 and seek public donations.

The Trustees have reviewed the risks to Ihe charity and are sat￿fied that suff￿￿nt controls
are in place.
Tnistees. responsibililigs
The Trustees are responsible for prepanng the Trustees. Annual Report and the accounts
in accordance with applicable law and regulations. The law applicable to Chan￿"eS in
England and Wales requires the Trustees to prepare accounts for each financial year in
accordance with United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice (United
Kingdom Accounting Standafds and applicable regulations). Under that law the Trustees
must not approve the accounts unless they are satisfied thal th¢y give a true and fair view
of the slate of affairs of the charty and of the incoming resources and applicats'on of
resour￿$ of the charty for that year. In preparing these accounts. the TrLJStees are
required to,.
- select suitable aeeounting pdicies and then apply them consistentty;
- obserde the Meth0￿S and principles in the Charit￿S SORP..
- make judgements and estirnates that are reasonable and pr￿jent,
- slate whether applicable accountiTrJ standards have been followed. subject io any
material departures dixlosed and explained in the financial statements,. and
- prepare the accounts on the goiNJ Concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume
that the Charty will contsnue in operation.
