2. Structure, Governance and Management
The Liminality Trust is governed by a constitution as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). The trustees jointly make decisions in line with the charity's governing document. All applications for funding or programme delivery are assessed against clear eligibility criteria and reviewed through a due diligence process. Funding is awarded only for activities that are exclusively charitable and within the charity’s stated objects. Trustees meet regularly to assess policy, oversee finances, and guide programme planning.
3. Objectives and Activities
The objects of the charity are:

To advance in life and relieve the needs of at-risk young people (aged predominantly 10 to 25 years) through:

Recreational and leisure time activities in the interest of social welfare

Support and development opportunities to enhance life skills and enable positive participation in society

To advance learning and public education through funding research into the causes, prevention and mitigation of harm caused by the exploitation of young people, and disseminating the results.
The charity aims to:

Provide services and education to young people at risk of exploitation

Deliver training to professionals and community stakeholders

Fund pilot academic research into under-explored areas of youth exploitation

Enable residential programmes that offer young people safe and developmental experiences away from risk environments
The charity has in place comprehensive policies covering safeguarding, volunteering, ethical fundraising, bullying, grant-making, and research assessment. These ensure a robust, safe, and high-quality approach to delivering its mission.
4. Achievements and Performance
This was the charity’s first operational year , during which foundational work was completed to establish governance structures, policy frameworks, and strategic priorities.
While no direct programme activities took place in this first year, key achievements included:

Securing initial donation funding

Development of programme plans for residential breaks, professional training, and academic research

Outreach to schools, PRUs, police partners, and voluntary sector organisations for future collaboration

The charity has a cautious reserves policy aligned with its early-stage development. Funds are held to enable strategic investment in programme development and delivery in the coming year. No staff are employed and all operational work is carried out by trustees and volunteers.
6. Plans for the Future
In the 2025–2026 financial year, The Liminality Trust will:

Launch its first residential programmes for young people at risk of exploitation

Sponsor academic research in key underexplored areas around youth vulnerability and systemic harms

Deliver training workshops for professionals including teachers, police, and social care staff, focused on recognising and responding to exploitation risks

Pilot early intervention life skills workshops within schools and pupil referral units
The charity is committed to supporting disadvantaged and excluded young people, and to building a body of research that will influence both policy and frontline practice in the prevention of exploitation.
