For context, Nature and Community is a new, small charity registered on 1[st] June 2023 and therefore the year ending 31[st] March 2024 represented the formative months of our activities. Trustees read and took into account Charity Commission guidance on public benefit when forming the charity and when considering its work and activities.

During this initial period, the charity undertook small-scale habitat creation and restoration work, provided school education materials on native wildlife and helped with the maintenance of a school woodland outdoor learning facility in Gloucestershire, UK.

**Brief statement of the**

**charity ’ s policy on reserves**

Trustees adopted a reserves policy, (1) as a contingency against unforeseen or unexpected needs. As a new, small charity with no fixed overheads, Trustees agreed to set aside a nominal amount of £500 for this purpose, which we believe is a reasonable and proportional sum at this stage; and (2) to meet planned commitments that could not be met through initial fund raising or future income alone. Trustees agreed to set aside £1,500 for this purpose in accordance with the charity ’ s plans and with the expectation that these funds would be expended in the following financial year.
