To provide or assist in the provision of facilities in the
interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time
occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by
reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, financial
hardship or social circumstances with the object of improving
their conditions of life.
Our tennis club has been on its current site for around 80
years and is registered with the Charity Commission as a CIO.
It is the only remaining LTA registered tennis club in the
Nuneaton area. The club is run by a committee (CC trustees)
consisting of club members who give their time on a voluntary
basis. Additional to our 2 artificial grass and 3 tarmac courts
we also have a clubhouse on the site. The site is owned on a
freehold basis by Nuneaton Lawn Tennis Club (NTC). The club
is members only with a current membership of around 200.
Membership is open to all and we have tennis coaching
available for both senior and junior members.| |Summary of the

and 1.19|Our main income in FY2025 was from annual membership
fees which is approximately £19,000 pa. For the past 3 years
our membership numbers have stayed roughly level despite
various initiatives to retain and increase membership.
However in FY2025 we saw a drop in membership numbers in
our junior sections. Whilst this does not greatly affect our
income it is a concern as the junior sections are the future of
the club and the sport.
In FY2025 we applied for a £15,000 Sport England grant to
upgrade our floodlights from Metal Halide to LED technology.
Our existing floodlights were 5+ years old and were becoming
increasingly expensive to maintain. LED floodlights gave us a
60% reduction in our electricity costs and also a better lit
playing surface for our members. We were successful in
obtaining the grant. We also engaged with the LTA for an
interestfree£20,000loan. £15,000 ofthisloan was delivered| |||to us in FY2025 and this, together with the grant, allowed us
to move ahead with the floodlight upgrade project.
Our expenditure is focused on maintaining and improving the
facilities of the club and making it a safe and pleasant place
to play for all members.
Expenditure summary:
After reviewing competing tenders we engaged with a
company called Carbon8 Lighting to supply and install the
LED floodlights – £14,200 payment on order placement
Electrical Test of Clubhouse to BS7671. This inspection has to
be carried out every 5 years to ensure a safe environment for
our members
Utility Bills – £4000. Electricity is our biggest outgoing, mainly
due to the floodlights
After the above expenditure is taken into account we have the
remainder of the LTA loan taken into FY2026 to pay the

The trustees are very focused on the club’s purpose of
advancing the amateur sport of Tennis in Nuneaton/Bedworth

facilities for participation in the sport of Tennis.
As a club we contribute actively to enable more people to play
tennis more often, in a manner that it is safe, inclusive, and
fair. This applies regardless of a person’s age, disability,
gender reassignment status, sex, marital or civil partnership
status, pregnancy or maternity, race, sex, sexual orientation,
religion, race or sexual orientation, socio-economic status or

and playing tennis. To that end we kept our FY2025
membership fee increases as low as possible with the
objective of growing membership. In particular we recognize
that the club juniors are the future of the club and the sport.
Just over 50% of our current membership are juniors and we
run a free of charge Junior Club Night every Friday night.
Additionally we have relationships with a number of local
schools which use our courts and coaching facilities on a
regular basis.
In FY2024 we took the decision to include floodlight usage as
part of the membership fee – so floodlights are free to all
members. We have continued this initiative into FY2025. Our
aim in doing this is the retain current members and attract
new memberships.
As stated earlier the committee is always trying to improve
the facilities of the club:

In FY2025 we started the project to convert our
floodlights to LED technology. This project will
complete in FY 2026.

of the period|Para 1.21|In FY2025, the club experienced a net surplus of £24,669.
However, as the club operates on a cashflow reporting basis, a
more comparable figure requires adjustment for extraordinary
items. The extraordinary items include a £15,000 grant for
the floodlights from Sport England, an additional £15,000
cash loan received from the LTA, and a half-payment
instalment for the new floodlights of £13,969.80 (the second
instalment was paid in the following financial year FY2026).
The LTA loan (£20,000 total) is interest free and is repayable
in bi-annual instalments over 5 years.
If these extraordinary income and expenditure amounts are
stripped out to allow comparison with the prior year’s surplus,
the recalculated FY2025 surplus is £8,639.57.
One other point to note is that our membership income in

As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. ## **Independent examiner's statement** I have completed my examination.
