1) The preservation and celebration of our cultural

preserved,

engagements with local community groups
(presentations, talks etc),
3) The provision of educational services to local
schools, etc. - engagement with four local schools,
three local youth groups, and the charity’s own
children’s holiday club (The Curiosity Club)
4) The provision of all-weather tourist facilities
supporting the local economy and the viability of
Salcombe town centre - 4,870 visitors in 2024, and
5) The provision of opportunities for volunteering and
community engagement - 26 volunteers, two
community engagement officers.

The charity’s objects are to establish, maintain and
run a museum in Salcombe for the exhibition to the
public of items of local or historical interest and value
including items connected with Salcombe’s maritime
history. The charity has power to do anything which
is calculated to further its objects or is conducive or
incidental to doing so, as further set out in its
Constitution.

be a natural person. No one may be appointed as a
trustee if they are under the age of 16 years or would

of the Charities Act 2011 (or any statutory re-
enactment of modification of that provision)). No one
is entitled to act as a trustee until they have
expressly acknowledged, in whatever way the
trustees decide, their acceptance of the office of
trustee. At least one of the trustees must be 18 years
of age or over. If there is no trustee aged at least 18
years, the remaining trustee or trustees may act only
to call a meeting of the trustees, to appoint a new
trustee. There must be at least three trustees. The
maximum number of trustees is 12. The trustees
have interest or expertise in the maintenance and
running of the museum, its collection and Salcombe’s
maritime history.
