Achievement and Performance
In this, our first full year of operating, the trustees were pleased to be able to support five different charities aligned with one of our main purposes as a charity: the alleviation of poverty. It does seem that there is more requirement within the UK to help people who simply cannot meet their basic needs with the money they have.
Cedarwood Trust - a community food bank in North Shields, where our funds went towards a project to make nutritious frozen meals on site for those in need.
The Cowshed - a project in Reading that helps local families. Our funds go towards Noah boxes, packs of kitchen items that go to provide a great start for people in extremely difficult and traumatic situations.
Alternative Angels - a project for homeless people in Swindon where a hot meal is provided at least twice a week for those in need.
Bala Children's Centre - an orphanage, primary and secondary school in Western Kenya, a part of Kenya with extreme poverty. Our funds went towards continued building project of proper classroom buildings and equipment for the schools.
Community of Purpose - a project for disadvantaged children in the Bristol area, where the funds went to a mentoring project to help teenagers break out of poverty.
All projects are visited from time to time by the trustees and we ensure the funds are spent in the appropriate manner. A successful fund-raising event was held towards the end of the financial year for Cotswold Fayre suppliers, where over £19,000 was raised for the charity. This money will continue to be granted during 2025-26 and we expect a lower balance in the account by March 2026. We hope to continue to fund these projects and are actively looking for other projects to support in the coming year.
Financial Review
The total incoming resources for the year amounted to £30,057(2024 £14,073). Expenditure in the year amounted to £23,242 (2024£9,306) . This brought the surplus for year to £6,815 (2024 £4,767).
Statement of Trustees Responsibilities
The trustees are responsible for preparing the Report of the Trustees and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice), including Financial Standards 102 'The Financial Reporting standard applicable in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland'.
The law applicable to charities in England and Wales, The Charities Act 2011, Charity (Accounts and Reports) regulations 2008 and the provisions of the trust deed requires the trustees to prepare financial statements each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of incoming resources and application of resources, including the income and expenditure, of the charity for that period. In preparing these financial statements, the trustees are required to:
Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently, Observe the methods and principles in the Charity SORP,
Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;
Prepare the financial statements on a going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in business

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under Section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is required.
It is my responsibility to:
-

-
to follow the procedures laid down in the General
-
(under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act); and

Basis of independent examiner's report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a true and fair view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statements below.
Independent examiner's statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
-
(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect, the requirements
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 130 of the 2011 Act; and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act
have not been met; or
- (2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
