## **Structure, Governance and Management** 

- Northstowe Muslims is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales on 23 May 2023 and governed by a Foundation Constitution. 

- The charity is managed by its Board of Trustees, all of whom serve on a voluntary basis and receive no remuneration or financial benefits for their services. 

- The charity’s operations are guided by its governing document and supported by policies including Safeguarding, Media and Communications, and Finance. 

## **Trustee Appointment and Training** 

- Trustees are appointed for a term of three years through a resolution passed at a properly convened trustees’ meeting. 

- The charity aims to ensure broad representation of the Northstowe Muslim community while considering the skills and experience required for effective administration. 

- Upon appointment, trustees receive a copy of the governing document and Charity Commission guidance. 

## **Charity Objectives** 

- To advance the Islamic faith for the public benefit. 

- To benefit the residents of Northstowe and surrounding areas through education, social welfare and community engagement. 



- To undertake any charitable activities deemed to be in the public benefit according to the laws of England and Wales. 

## **Funding** 

- The charity relies primarily on voluntary donations and community contributions. 

- Funding supports prayer facilities, Islamic classes, Ramadan activities, educational resources and community events. 

- Refugee families and those facing hardship are supported through subsidised or fully funded participation where possible. 

## **Banking and Financial Controls** 

- Bank: Metro Bank

- The charity operates a dual-authorisation banking process. 

- Financial records are maintained using QuickBooks accounting software. 

## **Financial Statements** 

- The Statement of Financial Activities for the period from October 2024 to September 2025 is attached as Appendix 1. 

## **Activities and Achievements** 

- Continued collaboration with the Northstowe Church Network regarding the proposed shared faith centre initiative. 

- Maintained active communication channels including WhatsApp groups, website, Facebook and Instagram. 

- Organised regular congregational prayers, Ramadan Taraweeh prayers, Eid celebrations and educational events. 

- Delivered weekly Islamic classes for children. 

- Supported refugee families through food vouchers, educational support and social integration assistance. 

- Participated in wider community events including festivals and interfaith activities. 

- Published monthly articles in Northstowe News promoting community awareness and positive engagement. 



## **Lessons Learned** 

- Community engagement and consultation remain essential to the charity’s success and sustainability. 

## **Plans for the Future** 

- Continue engagement regarding the proposed faith centre development. 

- Expand educational and youth activities. 

- Strengthen community partnerships and interfaith collaboration. 

- Continue supporting vulnerable families and refugees.
