The 4566 Preservation Group Charity Number 1203207 - Annual Return 01/04/2024 31/05/2025

Raising money to secure an active future for 1924 built Great Western Railway locomotive 4566, currently on static display in the Engine House visitor centre at Highley on the Severn Valley Railway. Fundraising activities in the financial year 2024-2025 have included the locomotives 100th Birthday Party on the weekend of the 31st August and 1st September at the visitor centre where we cut a cake, held a tombola, ran a sales stand of donated books, launched a Centenary Raffle and hosted some funfair games as part of the Severn Valley Railways ‘Summer of fun’ activities.

Income through regular Donors, the scrap drive with AG Recycling in Kidderminster and random one off donations for the year stands at £7279.

The Sales stand which sells donated books, bric a brac, models etc along with sponsored merchandise such as clothing, postcards, christmas cards, mugs, pin badges etc as well as the Raffle and Tombola raised £4567 in the financial year. Our sales team did an excellent job during 3 separate Severn Valley events.

Outgoings consisted of a payment for a specially produced artwork of the locomotive, of which we can now use on sponsored and donated merchandise, Website domain renewal, a wonderful birthday cake for the 100th birthday party and a payment to the local printers for some printed merchandise and posters, the latter payments were recuperated by trustees sponsoring these items and transferring this money straight into the account.

Our eventual goal is to raise a substantial amount of money in order to restore our locomotive to working order, we’re looking at a total of at least £250,000 in order to think about starting negotiations with the railway about when the work can start, it’s a long way off but the future of the loco is currently secure and we’re keeping ourselves visible for people to see.
