Vote taken and meeting chaired by Trevor McBride and minutes taken by Dianne McBride

Apologies for absence: Paige Prescott

Agenda item 1 (Minutes of previous meeting) No previous meeting

Agenda item 2 (Background of Trusts evolvement)

Here’s a precede background to the Trust’s evolvement: it all started with a Gloucester Old Spot pig in need of rescue when a field was rented for a while to accommodate him, this was later taken back by the owners and a field was subsequently found and purchased in order that he had a permanent home and Hakuna Matata Animal Trust was formed.

Agenda item 3 (Financial Report)

As you will see by the accompanying spreadsheet, we are currently running in deficit. We are constantly seeking new and innovative methods to address the ongoing expense of running the sanctuary. Everyday cost of animal feed, bedding and veterinary bills have been the main focus of expenditure, which is the most fundamental and necessary part of running the sanctuary and there has been little left for other important but less urgent projects to enable enhancement and expansion of the Trust, which would then enable us to take on more animals in need of safe refuge!

1

Many lives have already been saved by the Trust since its existence, some are now permanent residents and some have gone onto suitable permanent homes.

Agenda item 4 (Achievements)

The Trust prides itself in working with both the local community and the animal rescue communities up and down the country, helping as many animals and members of the public as we can. We have been able to have visits from local schools and also children being home schooled, we have also had young people doing their Duke of Edinburgh awards thus encouraging young people to respect all life and the environment. This is our first year as a charity and we are proud of our achievements so far, we have lots of ideas in the pipeline and we are looking forward to taking it further in the future.

Agenda item 5 (Current Livestock inventory)

Sheep 2 + 19 = 21, Pigs 4 + 2 = 6, Cats 0 + 6 = 6, Rabbits 2 + 6 = 8, Guinea pigs 0 + 4 = 4, Chickens 0 + 1 = 1, Cockerels 0 + 1 = 1 Gerbils 0 + 2 = 2. Ducks 0 + 3 = 3

Animals passed away: 3 sheep, 2 rabbits and 1 Duck

Animals re-homed: 5 rabbits, 4 guinea pigs, 2 gerbils and 2 Ducks.

Animals that the trust helped re-home without bringing to the sanctuary:We were part of a bigger team that helped re-home 260 sheep and 16 cows from an abuse case in North Yorkshire. We also single handedly found homes for 24 goats and 6 pigs.

Agenda item 6 (Tabled AOB) There wasn’t any other business
