## **Chairman’s Report September 2024– August 2025** 

## **Objectives and Activities** 

The charity’s purpose is to operate for public benefit to advance the education of students and alumni of Kingston College High School (Jamaica). In pursuit of this objective, the charity undertook the following activities during the year: 

## **Achievements and Performance** 

## Scholarships 

Academic scholarships were awarded in the year, following a formal recommendation process by Kingston College. 

Recipients were selected on the basis of financial need and academic merit, aligning with the charity’s commitment to educational advancement. 

Four scholarships totalling £2500.00 were granted to enable recipients to continue their studies and pursue educational opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach. 

## Student Welfare (Meals) 

Funding of £500.00 was granted to Kingston College (administered by the Bursar and Guidance Counsellors) to support the provision of meals for needy students, helping to ensure that students can focus on learning without undue hardship due to food insecurity, addressing basic needs to promote equitable access to education. 

## Kingston College Chapel Choir 

Funding of £500.00 was granted to the Kingston College Chapel Choir to support the delivery of choral programs and initiatives that enhance students’ musical education and extracurricular development, benefiting participating students and the broader school community.

## Kingston College Table Tennis Team 

Funding of £500.00 was granted to the Kingston College Table Tennis Team to support their Training Camp at Houston International Table Tennis Academy benefiting participating students and the broader school community. 

## - Exceptional Student Welfare Support Glenroy Davis 

Funding of  £500 was granted to assist with travel, accommodations, and post-operative care for one of our own—young Fortis, Glenroy Davis. 

Glenroy is a Grade 10 student who developed a possible cancerous tumour around his left elbow after sustaining an injury while proudly representing Kingston College in basketball in 2023 

## **Financial Review** 

The charity enjoyed a positive financial year, concluding with a healthy bank balance of £7,478.63. This favourable position reflects prudent management and the strength of our fundraising activities. 

Grants awarded during the year totalled £1353.56 and other expenses £2116.44, underscoring our commitment to prioritising student support and educational development. 

Funds committed but not yet disbursed for the current financial year include £2500.00 for Scholarships, £500 for Meal Programme. 

## Principal Sources of Funds 

- Fundraising raffles (Easter & Christmas) and an annual Sponsored Walk formed the core of fundraising activities. 

- Donations from the public provided a meaningful contribution to meeting our objectives. 

- The year demonstrated the effectiveness of our diversified funding approach, enabling us to fulfil commitments to scholarships, meals, and choir programs. 

## **Membership** 

The charity recognises the importance of building lasting relationships with supporters, alumni, and partners to sustain and grow our impact. 

Membership engagement remains a priority, with plans to broaden participation and expand fundraising capacity in the coming year.

## **Outlook and Priorities for 2025–2026** 

- Increase the number of scholarships or expand the level of support for existing scholars, subject to funding. 

- Expand welfare initiatives to ensure more students can access meals and essential resources. 

- Continue to support Kingston College Choir , Table Tennis Team and other enrichment programs that contribute to holistic student development. 

- Enhance fundraising activity, including targeted outreach to alumni and potential corporate partners, while exploring grant opportunities to diversify income streams.
