FRIENDS OF PENNY BRIDGE

REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES

FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 JULY 2025

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Is to advance the education of pupils in the school by developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school. Engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment which support the school and advance the education of the pupils.

PUBLIC BENEFIT

The services offered by the charity are deemed to be beneficial by their nature and are available to a large section of the public. The trustees have had regard to the Charity Commissions guidance on public benefit.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE

We have held various fundraising events for children. These include school discos, a summer fair, the colour run, a bingo night and hosting a cycle event for both students and the local community. A team of parents, teachers and children also raised money by completing the Coniston to Barrow walk in May.

We have received some generous donations from local companies in the year too.

FINANCIAL REVIEW

Financial position

The charity received gross income of £68,285 (2024: £60,916) in the year. The major costs were those incurred in relation to fundraising events. After paying a small amount for subscriptions and bank charges a donation of £65,371 (2024: £54,016) was made to the school. This left a deficit of £496 (2024: £4,969) to be deducted from reserves brought forward.

Reserves at the year end were £6,138 (2024: £6,634).

We are looking to spend the money we have raised so far to further support the schools needs and aim to continue to grow the charity and run more fundraising events in the future.

We are fundraising to help buy new laptops and to build an outdoor classroom so any reserves held at the present time are for this.

Reserves policy

The policy is to ensure that there is enough in reserves to cover the annual fixed cost for subscriptions and to cover incidental fundraising event costs.

Going concern

The Trustees have a reasonable expectation that the Charity has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. For this reason, they continue to adopt the going concern basis in preparing the financial statements.
