Trustees’ Annual Report for TeiganSmile

For the period: 05/04/2024 to 04/04/2025

Charity Number: 1202960

Charity Address: 41 PotKiln Road, Great Cornard, Sudbury CO10 0NL

1. Objectives and Activities

Charitable Purpose

TeiganSmile was founded to raise awareness about the dangers of kissing babies on the lips, particularly the risks of transmitting viruses such as HSV-1 which, in the case of Teigan, tragically led to brain damage and a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy. Our aim is to educate, advocate, and eventually fund support services and research related to childhood brain injury and illness, including brain tumors.

Mission Statement (Updated)

TeiganSmile Mission Statement

Protecting Tiny Lives. Promoting Big Awareness.

At TeiganSmile, our mission is to protect and empower children by raising vital awareness of the dangers of viral infections in newborns and advocating for early detection and support for childhood brain tumors. Inspired by our brave daughter Teigan, who lives with the effects of neonatal herpes meningitis, and by the courageous journey of young Ronnie, our work unites two critical causes under one powerful message of love, awareness, and hope. We strive to educate families, support those affected, and push for greater understanding, research, and early intervention, turning personal stories into life-saving campaigns. Through storytelling, school visits, fundraising, and community action, we bring strength through smiles, for Teigan, for Ronnie, and for every child.

Public Benefit

The trustees confirm that they have referred to the guidance contained in the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit when reviewing the charity’s aims and objectives and in planning future activities.

2. Achievements and Performance

Unfortunately, TeiganSmile was unable to carry out any fundraising activities or charitable work during the reporting period. This was due to significant personal and health challenges experienced by the original lead trustee, which made it difficult to maintain momentum and fulfil planned objectives. During this time, several trustees also decided to step down from their roles, contributing to a temporary pause in the charity’s development.

Despite these setbacks, the founder of TeiganSmile has since stepped in to revitalise the charity’s mission and operational structure. Efforts are now underway to re-establish a full board of trustees, create a clear strategic plan, and build a platform from which TeiganSmile can launch future campaigns, outreach, and fundraising initiatives.

3. Financial Review

As there were no financial activities during the reporting period, there is no income or expenditure to report. The charity currently holds no significant assets or liabilities. Banking and financial systems are in place and will be reviewed as part of the reorganisation process in the coming months.

  1. Structure, Governance, and Management

Governing Document

Trustee Recruitment and Appointment

During this period, the original board saw resignations due to personal circumstances. The founder has initiated a process to recruit new trustees who bring a mix of experience in charity governance, healthcare advocacy, education, and fundraising. All new trustees will receive an induction and training to ensure they are fully equipped to support the charity’s objectives moving forward.
