|**About Humber**<br>**Open Arms**|Humber Open Arms was established in 2023 to help promote<br>social inclusion, unity, community cohesion, and work to relieve<br>fnancial hardship for the Congolese and BME communities in<br>Hull and East Yorkshire. We achieve our aims through delivering<br>projects and activities that focuses on developing employability<br>skills, Sports activities, Cultural events, education, and other<br>practical support ofered in our drop-in sessions held every week<br>at our charity ofice.|

|**Summary of the**<br>**main**<br>**achievements for**<br>**the charity in the**<br>**past year**<br>**2024/2025**|In the past year, Humber Open Arms continued to expand its<br>activities and strengthen its presence within the local voluntary<br>and community sector. The charity now operates from its own<br>independently rented ofice space following the closure of Spring<br>Bank Community Centre by the local council in 2025. Securing<br>our  own  premises  represents  an  important  milestone  in the<br>organisation’s development and provides a stable and<br>welcoming base for delivering services and supporting<br>benefciaries.<br>We deliver a range of projects, workshops, and weekly drop-in<br>sessions focused on employability, wellbeing, community<br>engagement, sports, cultural activities, practical support, and<br>social development. Over the past year, we introduced several<br>new short-term community projects designed to respond to the<br>needs of the wider Hull community.<br>The new initiatives include;<br><br>Afro-hair  training  and  practical  workshops  aimed  at<br>helping  participants  develop  basic  afro-hair  care  and<br>styling  skills  while  promoting  cultural  awareness  and<br>inclusion.<br><br>A  weekly  Morning  Cofee  Project  held  every  Friday,<br>providing a safe and friendly social environment where<br>people can meet, enjoy refreshments, reduce loneliness,<br>andparticipate  in  light  recreational  activities  such  as|





||darts and board games.<br><br>Women’s Space, a dedicated women-only support<br>project led by professional nurses, ofering a safe and<br>supportive  environment  for  women  to  discuss  issues<br>relating to mental health, wellbeing, healthy lifestyles,<br>physical activity, and personal development while<br>encouraging peer support and confdence building.<br>Humber Open Arms management committee have also<br>undergone training including First Aide at work, Safeguarding for<br>vulnerable  adults  and  young  people,  bid  writing  training  to<br>strengthen the charity’sgovernance|

|**Summary of our**<br>**main objectives**<br>**and plans for**<br>**charity in the**<br>**coming year 2027**|We aim to continue building on the progress achieved during<br>2025/2026  by  strengthening  the  organisation’s  sustainability,<br>increasing community engagement, and expanding the range of<br>support available to benefciaries.<br>Looking ahead, the board of trustees that governs Humber Open<br>Arms plans to continue growing the charity in a sustainable and<br>fnancially stable manner. We will focus on securing additional<br>grant funding as it has proven to be a challenge in the past year,<br>developing new fundraising opportunities, and increasing public<br>awareness  of  the  organisation  and  the  services  we  provide<br>across Hull and the Humber region to support the long-term<br>stability and future development of the charity.<br>The trustees remain committed to ensuring Humber Open Arms<br>continues to grow as a trusted, inclusive, and community-led<br>organisation that positively impacts the lives of individuals and<br>families  across  Hull  and  the  Humber  region.  We  hope  to<br>continue developing and expanding the successfully introduced<br>community  projects,  including  the  Morning  Cofee  Project,<br>Women’s Space, and our Afro-Hair Training Workshops. We aim<br>to increase participation, reach more benefciaries from diverse<br>backgrounds,  and  continue  creating  safe,  welcoming,  and<br>inclusive  spaces  that  promote  wellbeing,  confdence,  skills<br>development,and social inclusion.|
