Statement of trustees' Responsibilities
The trustees present their report and financial statement for the year ended 31 July 2024. The trustees are responsible for preparing the Report of the trustees and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and regulations.
Charity law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year. Under that law the trustees have elected to prepare the financial statements in accordance with United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice (United Kingdom Accounting Standards and applicable law). Under company law the trustees must not approve the financial statements unless they are satisfied that they give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the surplus or deficit of the charity for that period. In preparing these financial statements, the trustees are required to:
-
select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently; .- prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the company will continue in business.
-
make judgements and accounting estimates that are reasonable and prudent;
The trustees are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that are sufficient to show and explain the charity's transactions and disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the company and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the charity law. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
This report was approved by the board on 30 May 2025 and signed on its behalf.

Independent Examiners' Report
Independent Examiners' report to the trustees of
EKET COMMUNITY UNION OF THE UNITED KINGDOM AND THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND
I have esamined the financial statements of The Eket for the year ended 31 July 2024, which comprise the Income Statement page 7, Balance Sheet page 8 and Notes to the Financial Statements, including a summary of significant accounting policies page 8-9. The financial reporting framework that has been applied in their preparation is applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).
Trustees' responsibility for the financial statements
As explained more fully in the Statement of Trustees' Responsibilities set out on page five, the trustees are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements and for being satisfied that they give a true and fair view.
Our responsibility
It is my responsibility to examine the financial statements.
An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the financial statements presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the financial statements, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the financial statements.
Conclusion
- Based on our review, nothing has come to our attention that causes us to believe that the financial statements have not been prepared: --
.-so as to give a true and fair view of the state of the company's affairs as at 31 July 2024 and of its surplus for the year then ended;
-
in accordance with United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice; and
-
to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the financial statements to be reached.

Notes to the Financial Statements
1. Basis of Preparation : The financial statements are prepared following UK charity accounting standards.
Income
Income is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, net of discounts and value added taxes. No grants received during the financial periods ended 31 July 20234.
Trustee Remuneration & Staff Costs :
During the reporting period, the charity had no paid employees. Additionally, no trustees received any remuneration or benefits in connection with their roles. All trustees volunteered their time and expertise freely in support of the charity’s objectives. This reflects the charity’s commitment to maximizing the impact of its resources directly for community benefit.
Restricted and Unrestricted Funds :
During the financial year, the charity received only unrestricted income, which was comprised entirely of membership subscriptions and voluntary donations from members. No grants or restricted funds were received during the period. This income supported the charity’s general activities and allowed the trustees flexibility in allocating resources to meet the charity’s objectives.
Debtors
Short term debtors are measured at transaction price (which is usually the invoice price), less any impairment losses for bad and doubtful debts. Loans and other financial assets are initially recognised at transaction price including any transaction costs and subsequently measured at amortised cost determined using the effective interest method, less any impairment losses for bad and doubtful debts.
