The Megan Mai Foundaton

Report of the trustees for the year ending 31[st] March 2024

Our Aims

The aim of the foundation is to provide help and support to children and young people in their battle against serious illness.

We aim to help as many people as possible during this tough time and also to provide support not just to the individuals going through the treatment but also their parents for whom this is also a hard time.

Our objectves

Our objectives are set to reflect the principles of the foundation, it is important to us that we maintain and continue the work already carried out

Our key objectives for the year as set out by the trustees were:

Review of Actvites and Achievements

As a Foundation we have continued to work alongside the hospital to supply children with Air purifiers, these purifiers help purify 99% of the air to help stop and prevent infections while people are recovering. We know that infections can cause serious set back in people’s recovery and this is why these machines play such a vital part.

The Chairman of the Foundation (Richard) has continued to spread the word of the foundation by selling merchandise with the Megan Mai logo on. This not only helps us spread the message but is always a vital source of income which has allowed us to do so much good work this year.

One new chapter that the foundation has taken this year is to help provide physical and mental support to those who have been left behind. We have enlisted the services of a therapist and been able to offer these sessions to people who are dealing with the grief that has been left behind. As a Foundation we found that this is a vital role in helping someone to come to terms with their loss but also to continue their life after with meaning.

We plan to continue all these services in to 2024/25 and looking to be able to help in many more ways.

Our fnancials

The financial statements show a net income of £29,155 for the 12-month activities.

All income is raised by fund raising and sponsorship and non-was provided by Grant’s or from local authorities. The main source of income came from the selling of merchandise and the annual Fan Dance.

As a charity we are fully reliant on these vital sources and the hard work of the trustees and volunteers in organising these events.

Our main expenditure relates to purchasing and branding of our merchandise, Air purifiers and costs used towards fund raising events

As a Foundation we don’t hold any assets

Our closing bank balance was £19,611, this was an increase in the year of £10,477 which is the retained profit from 2023/24. As a Foundation we expect to spend quite significantly this year from these reserves as we look to engage in a large project with the hospital to help provide fresh and healthy food towards young people and their parents while they spend time in hospital.
