St Ives Pilot Gig Club Objectives and Activities SORP reference Summary of the purposes of the charity as Set out in its governing document Para 1 17 St Ives Pilot Gig Club's primary purpose is the promotion of community parbcipation in healthy recreation. In parhcular by the provision of facilities, encouragement, and instructions in the sport of rowing, in parhcular Cornish Pilot Gigs for the benelit of the public. During the period, the Drganisation has provided coathing, training, and rècing opportunities for members. At the end of the year 36 local residents were members of the club and annual membership includes access to equipment, training sessions and entry into regattas and championships should people wish to row more competitivelv. The trustees have full regard for the guidance issued by the Chairty Commission and are regularly briefed on the importance and requirements of operating for the public benefit. St Ives Pilot Gig Club Achievements and Performance SORP referente Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity's work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. Para 1.20 In 2024 St Ives Pilot Gi8 Club were able to be invited and attend the World Pilot Gig Championships on the Isles of Scilly. Additionally, a number of local regattas were attended where weather allowed including.. Coverack, Goran Haven, Porthleven, Charlestown, Across the Bav Race, Caradon 3 Rivers, and the Men's Newquay County Championships. Attending such event5 provided opportunities for members to competitively race and to do so developed their skills, knowledge, and fitness to compete. Those who were not competing were a150 encouraged to attend in support and to partake socially meeting the charity's objective of Community engagement and social well-being. Rowing training was provided throughout the vear with 4 sessions per week available during the summer, when daylight 53ving BST applies and I session in the winter when clocks go back to GMT, supported by circuit training at the local sports centre, providing a positive and inclusive environment to engage in health recreation and receive instruction in the heritage sport of gig rowing Members have formed strong friendships, and many have commented on the Mental health benefits of meeting new people and having shared health and fitness goals. This is turn has impacted general well-being amongst members, combatted loneline55 and given members a sense of accomplishment and achievement both individually and as a member of a wider team. Achievements against During the period under review the organisation objeehves set. worked to continue to increase awareness of the club through social media and printed media and at the end of the year had had a total of thirty- six members123 identifying as female and thirteen identifying as malel. This included ft>ur new female and one new male and increased the number of local community members parbcipating in healthy recreation a primary charitable objective. St Ives Pilot Gig Club 11 brought back to the town, to reignite community spirit and engagement and at the same time raise funds for SIPGC to support its continuance. This event had not been run since Covid lockdown. Parhcipants pay an entry fee to bring a homemade raft to race, and the event is a collaboration with local business, the community, Harbour Master and Town Council. Local business donated prizes to support the club. Twelve raft entries were made at a donation of £30 each raising a total of £360.txi. Raffle rickets, -Throw a Jelly~ and -Guess the Number of Sweets raised a further £2,188 after the processing fees of £12.
