## **Trustees Annual Report 2024-2025**
Ryedale Environment Group (REG) is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) focused on promoting the conservation, protection, and improvement of the physical and natural environment. This is primarily (but not exclusively) achieved by encouraging recycling and providing environmental education events and activities.
For the reporting period (01 April 2024 to 31 March 2025) REG's main activities included the formation of small local groups and running a nature restoration conference. Other projects include the Paths for Everyone (P4E) project aiming at joining the market towns of Ryedale by a network of tracks, paths and country lanes to provide a multi-user path to encourage active travel and enhance biodiversity. The path when complete will be well over 40 miles in length. We also continue to provide free online events.
REG have also maintained apple juice production to cover their main running costs. The juice is obtained from windfalls and prevents food waste. REG has a continued involvement with ecofairs, participating in the ‘Earth day’ fair organized by the Pickering Environment Group. REG has helped to create local groups and uses its banking facility to enable community events for example the North Yorkshire Climate Coalition’s inspiring local climate action event in Harrogate. REG continues to work with the council to improve recycling and composting understanding. The charity relies on its 30-40 volunteers from across Ryedale.
REG trustees take their role of governance very seriously. As a fledgling charity, REG operate with a written constitution and trustees are selected through open election at the AGM. Basic policies are in place for the induction and training of trustees based on Charity Commission guidance. Additional policies have been put in place to protect both the charity and the broader volunteer base as well as the general public when attending events. The charity is aware that the main risks to the Charity are financial and reputational risk. The trustees confirm that due regard is paid to public benefit as all their events are free.
REG have much to do in terms of our existing projects ‘P4E’ and ‘Restoring Ryedale’ but we have other projects such as ‘Beyond Plastic’ that are just starting to gain some momentum. It is likely that REG will be involved in a large citizen science project relating to waterways in Ryedale over the course of 2025. Another Restoring Ryedale conference will be held in September 2025 and will be financed by our funding partner at North York Moors National Park Authority.
REG acts as a fundholding trustee, holding cash reserves for several smaller, informal organizations with similar goals, such as Pickering Environmental Group (PEG) and Pickering Swifts (who have decided to merge formally as of 1 April 2025). At the end of the 24/25 financial year REG held £4128 of restricted funding on behalf of other groups and its own projects. The only unrestricted funding (specific to REG) stood at £1590 at the year end.
REG has grown financially in the current year. Costs remain low as the charity relies entirely on volunteers. The financial summary accounts approved for the financial year (24/25) at the 2025 AGM show a total expenditure of £50478 and an income of £54331, resulting in a closing balance at the bank of £5718. Most of our grant funding was related to the P4E project and came from a variety of funders including North Yorkshire Council and Malton Town Council. Other funders included, North York Moors National Park Authority and a whole host of individuals who have donated or bought our apple juice. REG sincerely thanks all of them.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above
charity I'the Trust I for the year ended 31103 12025.
Responsibilities and As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation
