In planning our activities for the year we kept in mind the
Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit at our
trustee meetings.
We have provided sibling bereavement support packs to
multiple hospitals, including Nottingham Queen Medical
Centre, Nottingham City Hospital, Lincoln Hospital, Boston
Hospital, and Coventry Hospital. Additionally, we have
responded to direct requests from families, sending these
support packs free of charge.
Each pack is designed to support siblings affected by baby
loss, containing items to help them process what has
happened and resources to help adults support them
through their grief.

Over thepastyear, volunteers haveplayed an invaluable role
Contribution made by volunteers Para 1.38 in enabling Edison’s Light to fulfl its mission of supporting
families affected by neonatal death and baby loss. Their
dedication and hard work have been instrumental in our
fundraising efforts, particularly at events organised by our
team. Volunteers have taken on a variety of roles, from event
organisation to providing professional medical cover,
ensuring that our events run safely and efciently while
keeping costs down.

Para 1.20 After consulting with those impacted by these tragic
circumstances, we developed two distinct sibling
bereavement support packs: one tailored for younger
children and another for older children. These packs are
designed to address the specifc emotional needs of siblings
at different developmental stages.
Additionally, we have introduced a sibling support bear and
storybooks that help explain the loss in an age-appropriate
manner.
Up to 21st November 2023, Edison’s Light has distributed 86
sibling bereavement support packs, 88 sibling support
bears, and 106 storybooks to families navigating the pain of
baby loss and neonatal death.

raise funds, with many prizes donated by supporters and

running alongside this we have held tombolas. With the
majority of prizes donated.
