As the church’s annual income has exceeded £100,000, the church applied and is in the final stages of registering as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). ## **Purpose** The principal purpose of Pollards Hill Baptist Church is the advancement of the Christian faith according to the principles of the Baptist denomination. The church may also advance education and carry out other charitable purposes in the United Kingdom and/or other parts of the world. Pollards Hill Baptist Church is a member of The Baptist Union of Great Britain and the London Baptist Association (London Baptists as of September 2020). As member of The Baptist Union of Great Britain, the church subscribes to the Union’s Declaration of Principle: - That our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh, is the sole and absolute authority in all matters pertaining to faith and practice, as revealed in the Holy Scriptures, and that each church has liberty, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, to interpret and administer His laws. - That Christian Baptism is the immersion in water in the name of the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit, of those who have professed repentance towards God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ who died for our sins according to the Scriptures, was buried and rose again on the third day. - That it is the duty of each disciple to bear personal witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to take part in the evangelisation of the world. Pollards Hill Baptist Church is an ‘open membership’ church, so that persons seeking membership who have not been baptised in the manner described in the Union’s Declaration of Principle may at the discretion of the church members’ meeting be accepted for full membership based on their own public profession of faith. ## **POLLARDS HILL BAPTIST CHURCH** ## **Report of the Managing Trustees for the year ended 31 March 2025 (continued)** ## **Trustees** The Custodian Trustees are the London Baptist Property Board Limited, Unit C2, 15 Dock Street, London, E1 8JN. The Deacons of the church are the Managing Trustees who are appointed from among the church. The Managing Trustees (Ministers and Deacons) holding office during the year and to the date of this report were as follows: **Rev Deji Ayorinde** – _Lead Minister (Chair of Trustees)_ **Ms Manuella Kouame** – _Associate Minister for Youth and Mission_ **Mrs Ann Bowen James** – _Secretary_ / _Deacon of Administration_ **Mrs Hawa Turay** – _Treasurer_ **Mrs Pauline Barnes** – _Deacon of Pastoral Care_ **Ms Evadney Campbell** – _Deacon of Communication_ **Mr Andy White** – _Deacon of Fabric and Facilities_ **Mrs Bajoy Martin** – _Deacon of Worship_ ## **POLLARDS HILL BAPTIST CHURCH** ## **Report of the Managing Trustees for the year ended 31 March 2025 (continued)** ## **Statement of Trustees’ Responsibilities** Charity law requires the Charity Trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of Pollards Hill Baptist Church at the year-end and of its incoming resources and resources expended during that year. In preparing those financial statements, the trustees are required to – - select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently; - make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent; - state whether applicable accounting standards and statements of recommended practice have been followed subject to any departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements; and - prepare the financial statements on the going-concern basis. The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of Pollards Hill Baptist Church and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011 and the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2005. The managing trustees are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of Pollards Hill Baptist Church and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud or other irregularities. ## **Bankers** National Westminster Bank PLC, Croydon High Street, 1High Street Croydon, CR9 1PD. ## **Reserves policy** The Managing Trustees accept their responsibility to keep the membership apprised of the church's financial status on a regular basis, recognising that their financial support on a voluntary basis needs to be maintained. Any liquid funds of the church are all held on accounts with bankers and other financial institutions requiring minimal notice for withdrawals. The church does not invest in securities. ## **Risk policy** The Managing Trustees are aware of the need to implement a risk management strategy comprising – - an annual review of risks; - establishment and review of systems and procedures to mitigate those risks; and - establishment and review of procedures to minimise the potential impact should any of those risks materialise. ## **Review of the year** ## _**Minister: Rev Deji Ayorinde**_ Our motto verse, Romans 12:12, called for us to be joyful in hope, patient in affliction and faithful in prayer and as I reflect on the year we have had, I have come to a clearer understanding of why the Lord led us to hold that as our focus. Having begun in late 2022, the process of first registering as a charity and then transferring assets and contracts from the former unincorporated association to the newly registered CIO has now been completed and from 1[st] April 2025, we will begin trading under the new name, Pollards Hill Baptist Church CIO. This report marks a transition point in the 85-year history of the church, and it is more than a privilege and honour that the Lord has chosen us to facilitate this. I am particularly grateful to Bajoy Martin for her incredible sacrifice and efforts, taking the lead in seeing that process through from beginning to end. Pressing into the new year, we continue to declare that He is our strength, our song and salvation, and we look forward to newer and greater testimonies of His goodness in us and through us to the wider community of Pollards Hill. ## **Independent Examiner** As there are no financial transactions to report, accounts have not been prepared, and an independent examiner has not been appointed. ## **Conclusion** This report has been prepared in cooperation with the Managing Trustees who, on ……15/11/2025……………………., approved the same and authorised the Secretary to sign it on their behalf. ## **ANN BOWEN-JAMES (Mrs)** Church Secretary
