Constitution (foundation mcNJel), approved 6 April. The organlsaUon was registered with
the Charity COMMI￿10n on the 6 April 2023.

members are circulated with invitations to nomlnate trustees in a(fvance of AGM.

Apart from the flrst charity trust*s all trustees are appolnta for a 3 year tem by a

The board of Trustees manages the Charlty, and alms to consider only strateglc declslons at
its m*tings. Trustees are aware that ary confllct of interest Is d￿lared and recorded and
the person wlll be withheld from that part of the meettng and will not be able to vote for that
bit of dlscussion. The board ￿)Id5 an AGM every year, other than that any charlty trustee
may call a meetlng during the year.

have considered the Charlty Q)mmlssion's guIdar￿e on public benefit and thls Is regularly re-
sited.
The charfty provtdes help In the Io(31 community to tho* n￿dIng to re-home thelr
cAts, taking in stray cats handed in to the vets or roamlng in the Iocdl community, and for
those looking to adopt a caL We also run a trapi neuter, retum SCh￿e for fet31 cats located
In the area.

Achlevements and Perfonnan
We are pleased trj report that durfng the perfod from December 2023 to De￿mber 2024, we
retrH)med 82 cats, and 86 cats came Into ca￿. We have a long waltlng 51st for cats needing to come
Into care, and we have found that thts seems to be the case for all the local cat charftles wlth whom
we have fornied mutual worklng rdationships. There are mary reag)ns why we are asked to take In
cats, from sad clrcumstances such as bereavements or Illness of ownerslowners going into long-tem)
care; economlc rea￿nS such as evithons or ovfflets r￿* lower alAe to afft)rd the care of cats. social
services cases; and strays handed Into the vets. A8 al￿dYsl we are indebted to all our volunteer5 for
thetr hard work In ensurfng the cats arKd kitte[￿ re￿1ve the best posslble care when they are wlth us,
and the many don4tions rf focMI, blankets. toys, and Iltter.
We have continued to devdop rJur fUndra￿[￿j streaff& We now have a monthly online newsletter
whlch is sent io ¢JJr supportws, to subsuibe, for a small monthly donatlon. One of our
volunteers has a display (ablnet for Axholme Cat Rescue at a lo￿1 anttques centre. She PLts good
qualtty small Items from household donatSons Into the catxnet for sale. All proceeds are gfven to the
rexue. One of oijr volunteers dld a long dIStsn￿ walk In the summer In aid of our charlty. Donatlons
came in thrwgh a JustGiving page. This was very wdl supp￿￿1. We vMe al￿ contscted by a local
fumlture store who asked us to attend an eV￿t we were presented with a (heque. They
support three local charlttes each year, and we Vlve rK)minated as of those charrtles. We we
extremely grdteful for the support and to the people who nomlnated ￿. We continue wlth our pen
sponsorshlps, donatlon I￿XeS In local st￿p5, takeaways and pubs, theme nights, bingo nights (no
monetary prlzes), I￿[ summer shows, car boot sales, coffee moming at the local Church, and the
sale of calendars.
As a charfty, we receive support from Pet Han, Whi5kas Adopdon Mtsslon and the Pets at Home VIP
club. Thls helps wlth food costs and It￿￿5 such as toys, beds arKI I￿anke& The tharty Is stiii
member of the ADCH and continues to contiilxrte and adhe￿ to thelr standards. We were Invlted to
attend the annuai Atol Conferen￿ wAth a free tkket provlded by the Adoption Mlsslon. Two
volunteers attended and enjoyed networknng with other tharftles and benefiting from attendance at
Infonnative workshops from werts In the tleld.
We had the ￿ floorfng replaced In 2023, txft thwt reallsed that the r(xJf needed repalrs. The le3￿ng
roof was havlng a detrimental eff￿ on the new fl¢)orirvJi and we had saved 9)me money to have
repalrs done to the rcK)f in 2024. At the beglnnlng of 2024. we had number of hlgh ne￿1 cases of cats
and knttens. Scffte needed operatlons and costy ongolw care and the funds we had saved for the
roof were ¥¢ent on veLfees. The most 51gnificant fdse vrds a cat called Martin who was signed over
to us. Durfng the vet health d)eck, and from the prevlous veys records, it was fourKI that Martln had
a Grade 415 heart murmur which need&J fvrther Invesbgalion. He neLYJed an uttrasound scan at a
cost of an estlrnated £650 to dlagnose the (2u* of the mumiur whlth dld not indude any followpup

In March 2024, Martln had his scan atKI was dlagnosed wlth hypertropNc obstructNe cardiomyopathy
and he began dally medication.

The speclalist vet sa5d he would r￿ed another scan in OrtobeJ to ￿ if the medloition was workln9.
We declded to keep hlm at the rescue to glve him hfs medlcatlon and to monltor him untll his next
scan. He had his second scan on the 16 October and, although his left ventricle is still thicker than It
should be, we are pleased to say the heart scan sfN)wed a decrea￿ In ￿ thlckness of the left
ventrlde wall. He will remain on medlcxtion for the r& of hls life and will need to retum for follow up
heart scanslappointments. The 5￿JaI(St has asked to see hlm again In nine months and then In 18
month Intervals.
We held a spedfic btngo nlght to rai* fun(ts ts Martin and thls was very well atterKkn, We also bld
for two grants to help 5UPPOrt the vet costs and the r(K)f repairs. We were delighted our applications
were ac￿pted and we recelved grdnts from the Nattjre Watch Foundation and ADCH HSI UK. This
covered the spedalist vet Invol￿ and pald for the new roof and ass(Klated repairs.
We Inltlally hoped that Martin would be able to be adopted if the scan showed no Issues, but as
he has to be on medlcation for the rest of hls life and will need to follow up vet appolntments, we
have declded to place him In a long temi foster home. Th15 mears that we will continue to cover the
cost of ongolng veterlnary care and medlcation. At the mom4rt we only have short temi foster
carers. We currenty have two home fosterers, and are plea*1 to announ￿ that we have recruit&l a
thlrd startIng In January 2025. We have an agFEement for short term foster fdrers, but we are now
working on writing a tK)licy ar)d agreemertt for lorKJ temi fostering. Thls Is a row area for us t￿rt wlll
be helpful for Marun and for any other cats that have long term health Issues. We are also
conslderlng how we wlll fund the vet￿inary care for Martin and any other skmilar cAses in trE future,
We wlll contlnue wlth grant appllcatlons, swnsorship and have stedfic ftjndrdising events for a
Particular cat In need.
We contlnue to K￿rk within the IOGII communlty to contrd and manage the feral cat populatlon. We
trapi neuter and retum (TNR) feral cats to Stte wherever p0S￿ble. We contlnue to worf( wlth a varfety
of sltes. In this peiiod we have trapwl, ne￿l￿ed and returr￿1 ￿ feral cats.
In 2024 Axholme Cat Resoje welcomed our &udent vtho is completing the Bronze Duke of
Edlnburgh (DofE) award, and we hope nlore students ￿11 follow. The DofE is a natlonal programme
for 14-24 year old that offers an opportunlty to dI￿0Ver new Interests and talents whilst havlng fun
wlth frlends. One of the sectlons that needs to be completed for the bronze and silver award Is
voluntserlng - givlng time to help people, the communlty or so(Jety, the enwronment or animals. The
DofE is a wognised mark of achlevement and a t￿1 to develop exsential skills for Ilfe and WDrL We
are excited to be Involved In empowerlng young Wjple and suppDrtlng them In leamlng new skjlls,
overcomlng obstscles, bullding confidence and resil1en￿.
The owner of a local pet crematoriurn, All Pets at Pea￿, has generous￿ donated a tree for AxhoSme
Cat Rescue In the lovely and tranquil remembrance garden there. Thls provides a peaceful and serene
spot for reffectlon and rerneMbran￿ for all those who have passed through our care. Any cats that
have l￿en adopted from LL% and are cremated at AJI Pets at pe￿ 12n have their ashes laid to rest
under the AKholme Cat ReS￿e ftemembr7n￿ tr￿. Thwe Is a plaque undemeath wlth our name and
a quote from Charles Dlckens which we fed Is particularty fitting: What greater gift than the love of a
cav.

The roof In the hyglene area had siarted to leak whlch caLEed a number of Issues. ThEs area is used
to Store focid, and the boxes of ￿t}￿tten bk£cuIts became and had to be thro￿ away. At the
end of 2023 we had new flooring in the pens and we did not want this to be adversely affected. We
trled to repalr the roof on an ad hoc btss but On￿ St affect8J the dectrlcs, we realised the r(￿r
needed to be completely replaced.
The work started In March and we are delighted to report that all the works have now been
cornpleted. The old, leaky r(M)f In the hygiene area was completew removed and the wooden supports
were replaced. Trlple layered roofing was fltted and sealed with appropriate dralnage. Tr cat
n h& now teen n)ofed over to make It 0)Mp￿telY weatherproof. Some of the old Wooden supports
In the run had to be replaced and additlonal ￿ppOrtS were added. The roof complies with ADCH
guiddlnes and has shaded areas to protett the cats from strong UV light. We have also added
themiometer In the area so we can monitor the temperature.

one another to provkle the highest standards of care. We partnered with the MayAower Sanctuary to
enable three of our volunteers to uThkrtake trainlrKJ and successfulty quallfy to Insert mlcrochlps. As
mlcrochlpping cats b￿ame law In June 2024. ￿ fett th15 would be a useful additlon to our skllls.

I report on the accounts of Atholme Cat Rescue for the peri(xS ending l December 2024,
whlch are set out on pages 10 b) 12.
Respectlve responsibilities of Trustees and examiner
The chartys trustees are re5ponslbEe for the preparBtion of the accounts. The charlvs
trUSt￿S consider that an a￿lIt is not required for this period under section 144 of the
Charitles Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
examine the accounts under section 145 of the charities Act,
to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charfty
Commission (under secbon 145(5)(b) of the Charfties Act, and
to stste whether particular matters have come to my attent]on.
