SORP reference SORP reference SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 Over the last year we have continued to
build on the success of Southend Pride,
as an organisation.
We have continued to organise and run
our monthly groups - LGBTQ+ History
and Queer Families - growing their
membership and providing support for
those who need it.
In addition we have introduced new
monthly groups - Coffee n Chat (an
informal social get together), Rainbow
Roots (a gardening & well-being group)
and Drawn Together (a monthly art
and crafts group). These new groups
have been well attended and continue to
grow.
We have been working in partnership
with other organisations, developing
new projects and supportive networks
to add to our calendar of monthly
events:
Age Concern - Proud Conversations - a
weekly group for 50+ LGBTQ+.
St Mark’s Church and LGBTQ+ Chaplain
- Queer & Trans Action - supporting
trans and non-binary community
members.
We have delivered our LGBTQ+ training
programme to more businesses and
organisations, accrediting those
organisations to raise awareness within
the LGBTQ+ community that that
organisation is inclusive and accessible.
Throughout the year we proceeded in
our regular work of organising events
and commemorative occasions:
Winter Pride
Proud Poetry
Volunteer Training
Queer Families Picnics
LGBTQ+ Film Nights
Pride Month Flag Raising
Pride Parade
Pride Festival
Transgender Day of Remembrance Flag
Raising
Queer Carols

C2 - Internal

We continue to have a visible presence at various ‘outside’ events, where we strive to raise awareness of the LGBTQ+ community through information stalls: Hamlet Court Road in Harmony South Essex College Southend Hospital Black History Month Southend City Day 48 Hour Comedy Impovathon Over the past year we have continued to build our partnerships with other community organisations and groups: Southend Unison Southend Museums Southend City Council Transpire Local Prides - Essex, Basildon and Thurrock Our long running partnership with The Cliff pub has, unfortunately, come to an end, as the venue was forced to close in July. They supported us year round by organising our monthly Pride fundraiser at the pub, designing our Festival artwork, and supplying tech support for many of our events. We are currently seeking alternative venues and partners, and have managed to secure a safe and secure venue for some of our fund raising events: Winter Pride After Party Drag brunches Pride Festival After Party Overall, 2025-2026 has been a successful year with some obstacles we have had to overcome but we look forward to building on our successes and continuing to support the LGBTQ+ community.
