Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 Over the last year we have continued to
build on the success of Southend Pride,
as an organisation.
We have continued to organise and run
our monthly groups - Queer Climb,
Youth Pride, Queer Well-being, LGBTQ+
History, and Queer Families - growing
their membership and providing support
for those who need it.
We have delivered our LGBTQ+ training
programme to more businesses and
organisations, accrediting those
organisations to raise awareness within
the LGBTQ+ community that that
organisation is inclusive and accessible.
Throughout the year we proceeded in
our regular work of organising events
and commemorative occasions:

Winter Pride

Proud Poetry

Volunteer Training

Queer Families Picnics

LGBTQ+ Film Nights

Pride Month Flag Raising

Pride Parade

Pride Festival

Transgender Day of
Remembrance Flag Raising

Queer Carols
In addition we were a visible presence at
various ‘outside’ events, where we were
raising awareness of the LGBTQ+
community through information stalls:

International Women’s Day

Hamlet Court Road in Harmony

South Essex College

Southend Hospital

Black History Month

South East Asian History Month

Over the past year we have
continued to build partnerships
with other community
organisations and groups:

Southend Unison

Southend Museums

The Ironworks

All Rise Collective

Southend City Council

Transpire

supported us year round by organising
our monthly Pride fundraiser at the pub,
designing our Festival artwork, and
supplying tech support for many of our
events.
Overall, 2023-2024 has been a
successful year and we look forward to
building on that success.
