Charity Number 1202583

## **TRUSTEES’ ANNUAL REPORT - 1 APRIL 2024 TO 31 MARCH 2025**

Friends of Freeman’s Wood CIO oversees the management of Freeman’s Wood, a woodland on the outskirts of Lancaster which is a designated Town Green.

We are continuing work on the accessible path project. The path itself was officially opened in September 2024 and is now being enjoyed by many visitors to the woods. Further work is planned for the remainder of 2025 to make the wood even more accessible with the installation of bike racks at one entrance and the removal of some of the industrial fencing that blocks large sections of the wood.

The tree planting scheme was a success: grant funding was received and many volunteers of all ages helped with planting 750 native saplings in January 2025.

Regular volunteering sessions have helped to keep litter and brambles under control, and wood chippings have been spread on the muddy path from Coronation Field.

A new website has been built which enables visitors to sign up for volunteering sessions, subscribe to the newsletter and donate.

We have organised occasional guided walks to share knowledge about local history and wildlife.

Trustee meetings are held at least quarterly and are well attended by trustees and other valued advisors.

Projects for the next twelve months include wildflower planting on the meadow area and design and installation of interpretation boards.

Hi Bethany.

Just carried out my review of the accounts on a private terrace overlooking a smouldering Mount Etna!! Sorry I didn't get back to you last week - Work and SORP deadlines got in the way!

Anyway, I've gone through the bank statements and accounts working papers and (which will come as no surprise) everything is perfectly in order - very easy to follow and all classificaons correct.

And I'm sure you know that the Notes tab is 23/24, so this will need updang - unless I'm just missing this year's version.

Hope you are well and just send me the link through for signing whenever you are ready.

With very best wishes

Peter
