Netes Hands Annual Report For the year ending April 2025
Our Mission
The mission continues to support underprivileged children and women and babies
This year we have been able to support two women to obtain a nursing qualification within the Gambia.
This is a big achievement as it will enhance the work that we strive to do
Our team remains focused in playing a vital role in developing new ideas.
We thank each one of you for being part of our journey and look forward to another year of progress and change.
Our Long-Term Vision is to continue
-
Promoting access to quality education for children, particularly in rural or underserved areas.
-
Prioritising access to basic healthcare, nutrition, and sanitation , recognising that these are essential for children’s physical and mental development.
-
Working closely with local governments, community organisations, and partner agencies to maximise resources and achieve shared goals for children’s development in The Gambia.
The Charity Aims To:
-
Provide children with school materials, uniforms, and other essental items so that financial barriers do not prevent them from attending school. This also includes supporting the completion of school buildings to ensure children have a safe and suitable learning environment.
-
Focus on the health of mothers and children , including access to prenatal care and safe delivery services, recognising the vital role maternal health plays in community wellbeing.
-
Ofer additonal actvites such as sports , helping children develop confidence, social skills, and positive engagement through structured, enriching opportunities.
Key Achievements:
-
Hosted a charity event to raise awareness and further promote the work of Nettie’s Hands. This was a huge success and strengthened our connection with the community.
-
Launched an initiative to provide women with free bras , supporting dignity, comfort, and access to essential items that many women struggle to afford.
-
Continued providing children with footballs , recognising that football remains a favourite pastime and a powerful way to keep young people active, engaged, and connected.
-
Received generous support from a local church , whose donations have contributed meaningfully to our ongoing projects.
-
Planning a charity excursion for November 2026 , during which members of the church will have the opportunity to see first-hand the impact of the charity’s work and meet the communities we support.
Case Study
-
This year, we have had the opportunity to sponsor two women to train and qualify as midwives. This is a life-changing opportunity for them, and once certified, they will each take responsibility for supporting pregnant women within their local communities.
-
During our previous work in Talokoto, it became clear that the village urgently needed additional midwives to support the single midwife who was serving the entire area. By investing in the training of these two women, we are helping to strengthen maternal care and improve outcomes for mothers and babies.
-
This development will have a lasting, positive impact on the local community and reflects the core values and mission of Nettie’s Hands.
