Activities and achievements
Overview
In this short reporting period of 6 months from our registration with the charity commission, we have sought to consolidate our internal governance as a new charity, fundraise for our exciting upcoming support box project (more detail below) and look to build links with other partners working in the space of supporting children with additional needs and their carers.
Activities in Current Reporting Period
-
Developed the Support Box project:
-
The Support Box project seeks to place resources and activities on hospital wards that are accessible to children with additional needs and their carers. In this reporting period we have led a successful fundraising campaign for the project, raising over £6000. We have also engaged with Buckinghamshire NHS trust Paediatrics department and Marlow Opportunity Playgroup to begin research and development for the toys and activities in the box to ensure it is fit for purpose.
-
Stakeholder conversations:
-
We have evaluated work done by the Foundation prior to Charity Commission registration. Namely we have been reviewing the parent information sessions that were run in Autumn Winter 2022/2023 at the Marlow Opportunity Playgroup (MOP) with local health care professionals. We also have been getting feedback in relation to the specialist physiotherapy and occupational therapist assessments we funded for children with additional needs in the same time period. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive for both projects and testimonials from parents and carers who benefitted from these can be found on our website. We hope to build on both of these streams of work in the future.
-
Collaboration:
-
In this period we have been building links with other organisations working in this space. Specifically, we have engaged with Makaton Charity to advocate for and advise on creation of culturally diverse signs. We have engaged with Ronald McDonald Charity Homes to improve faith community inclusion.
