Trustees Annual Report

1. AGM

No AGM was held, however the report was examined by the trustees on 25[th] February and is assured as an accurate record of the Charity’s position at year end. The next Trustees meeting is set for March 2025.

2. The Trustees

The 5 original trustees remain in place with the welcoming of 3 new trustees. Martin Austin, Barbara Haywood and Andreas Noppers

3. Funding

The CIO was again lucky to gain funding (597.73) from Resource Futures, which will help the shelving and insulating a storage area of the workshop. The aim is to complete this by March 2025.

4. Activities

The Ashburton Café was set up in 2018 and has been a successful venture repairing broken items (electricals, furniture, fabrics, clocks, radios etc.) and returning them in a usable state thereby reducing domestic items going to landfill. In March 2023 the Charity was formed and new premises became available to increase the amount of repairs that could be offered to the public. There were costs to this very basic premises for which grants became available. The activities increased twofold over this last year with over 900 items coming in.

The CIO collaborated with The local Primary School and held 4 sessions teaching pupils a variety of repairing skills with school teachers present.. The CIO also collaborated with U3A and offered a repair workshop . It is hoped that more community collaboration will help us fulfil our aim of upskilling the community

5. Summary.

The Ashburton Repair Café Charity has had a very successful year and is in a sound position with good governance and appropriate policies in place to support its activities. The CIO is well able to meet its obligations and it is anticipated that the CIO’s increased repairing activities will again provide a good flow of income in the forthcoming year.
