## **Our Aims and Objectives**

## **Purposes and Aims**

The charity’s objectives continue to focus on meeting critical needs within the community. This year, our main purpose was to improve access to mental health support for African women who are often reluctant to seek help. In line with our commitment to public benefit, we have worked to remove barriers, raise awareness, and provide support that is both culturally sensitive and relevant.

A key part of our work has been the development of a network of trained community mental health advocates. These advocates are active in trusted and familiar spaces such as community centres, places of worship, and social gatherings. They provide information, emotional support, and guidance to help women better understand mental health and the services available to them.

Our goal is to reduce stigma, build trust, and encourage women to take care of their mental well-being by seeking help when needed. Through this approach, we aim to empower more women to make informed choices about their mental health and overall wellbeing.

## **Ensuring Our Work Delivers Our Aims – Annual Return**

Each year, we review our aims, objectives, and activities to ensure they remain relevant and effective in meeting our charitable purpose. This year, our review focused on understanding and tackling the specific challenges African women face in accessing mental health support.

We prioritised raising awareness through targeted workshops, community events, and outreach sessions, helping to increase understanding of mental health and reduce stigma.

We also developed a network of trained mental health advocates who engaged with women in trusted, culturally familiar settings, offering practical support and guidance tailored to their needs.

To reduce barriers further, we worked closely with community leaders and local organisations to challenge misconceptions around mental health and ensure our services were accessible, approachable, and culturally appropriate.

This ongoing evaluation helps us stay true to our charitable objectives and ensure our work continues to serve the public benefit. We regularly refer to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit to make sure our programmes have a meaningful and positive impact on the communities we support.
