Finances
During the 2024-25 financial year, Dying Matters Rutland maintained a stable financial position. Income was generated through a mix of grants, donations, and fundraising events. Expenditure was carefully managed, with the majority of funds allocated to community outreach, educational events, and support services. Full financial statements are available upon request.
Events
We held a variety of events throughout the year to engage the community and further our aims. Highlights included:
-
The annual Dying Matters Awareness Week, featuring workshops and talks by local professionals. Dying Matters Rutland supported online events run by the Integrated Care Board aimed at raising awareness of issues relating to our core mission.
-
Bereavement support groups, run monthly in Oakham and Uppingham in partnership with LOROS and Sue Ryder, providing a safe space for individuals to share their experiences.
-
Snowdrop Award presentation.
Achievements
One of our significant achievements this year was the launch of the Snowdrop Award. This new recognition celebrates individuals and organisations in Rutland who have made outstanding contributions to supporting those facing end-of-life . The inaugural recipients were the Wisteria House care home, and the Snowdrop Care agency, both nominated by the families of those who have died for outstanding compassionate care which was above and beyond.
Additionally, our outreach efforts have resulted in increased participation in our programmes and a growing awareness of the importance of open conversations about death and dying.
Publicity
Our activities received positive coverage in local media, including articles in the Rutland & Stamford Mercury and interviews on Rutland Radio
Plans and Strategic Objectives
Looking ahead, Dying Matters Rutland aims to expand its educational workshops, strengthen partnerships with local health and care providers, and secure additional funding to enhance bereavement support services.
We remain committed to fostering a compassionate community where conversations about death and dying are normalised and supported. Submitted on behalf of the Board of Trustees, Dying Matters Rutland.
