TRUSTEES REPORT

For The Year Ended 31 August 2025

The Trustees present their annual report and financial statements for the year ended 31 August 2025.

The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in note 1 to the financial statements and comply with the charity's governing document, the Charities Act 2011, FRS 102 "The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland" and the Charities SORP "Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)".

Objectives and activities

The objectives of the charity are to:

a) Increase the awareness of and reduce the stigma attached to men's mental health,

b) Provide early intervention opportunities for men to work on their mental health,

c) Provide training on mental health first aid, and

d) Create content, events, partnerships and experiences that encourage men to share their own inner struggle in a friendly and supportive environment.

Public benefit

The Trustees have paid due regard to guidance issued by the Charity Commission in deciding what activities the charity should undertake.

Achievements and performance

The charity has made remarkable progress in raising awareness around male suicide and improving mental health support, achieving meaningful outcomes that benefit individuals and society.

1. Tough Talk Sessions

In 2025 we introduced our "Tough Talkers program to male-centric spaces and charities supporting vulnerable men. Our Tough Talkers are predominantly male frontline staff trained to proactively identify and address issues among their colleagues that could lead to crisis, including suicidal thoughts. In 2025, our Tough Talkers reported successfully conducting 38 suicide interventions.

They operate using our "I to the Power of We" framework, which is built on three key principles:

Influence: Tough Talkers positively influence their environment, from updating outdated support posters to addressing toxic behaviours.

Interact: They are trained to notice concerning signs in what colleagues say or do. This allows them to initiate difficult, non-clinical conversations and guide individuals toward support long before a situation becomes critical.

Intervene: If an interaction reveals a serious risk, such as current or past suicidal thoughts, Tough Talkers are equipped to ask directly about suicide. If necessary, they can perform an immediate intervention, moving the person from danger and isolation to safety. They are trained to utilize their organization's support systems and prioritize their own self-care by seeking support when needed.

2. Tough Talk/Presentations/workshop Sessions

The charity conducted 27 impactful sessions, engaging a total of 3,090 individuals from male-centric industries such as manufacturing, construction, emergency services, colleges and charities who support vulnerable men. These sessions created a supportive environment to address stigma around male mental health while encouraging men to seek help through Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs). The charity's personal interventions in four critical cases directly prevented suicides, showcasing the life-saving impact of this initiative.

3. Suicide First Aid (SFA) Training

A total of 12 SFA courses were delivered, training 200 men and women to become equipped "Tough Talkers." These proactive individuals are now influencing their communities and workplaces by intervening in crisis situations, promoting mental wellbeing, and driving systemic changes to better support men's mental health. The upcoming Tough Talker app will further enhance these efforts, allowing participants to track their interventions and leverage data to refine future strategies.

4. Resource Development

The charity developed valuable mental health resources, including the MANUP self-help journal and its version for young men, which focuses on peer-to-peer support, which will launch in March 26. These resources provide men with practical tools for emotional reflection and self-management, contributing to a broader cultural shift around mental health awareness.

5. Tough Talk App

Launched in Nov 25, we pivoted from creating our own app and utilised the Skool APP as a support network for our Tough Talkers, providing support, training and an outlet for them. We also launched a webapp reporting system for them to report Influences, Interactions and Interventions with Tough To Talks unique I to the Power of We framework.

Financial review

General

The accounts have been prepared on a receipts and expenditure basis.

The financial statements show total income of £60,007 and expenditure of £37,257, which results in addition to unrestricted reserves of £22,750.

Reserves policy

There are no restricted reserves. All reserves are held to ensure that the charity is well places to meet future demands on its resources.

Plans for future periods

Vision for 2026

This year, we are focused and determined. As a small charity with big ambitions for meaningful impact, we are dedicating our efforts to key areas that will drive our mission forward.

  1. Tough Talkers – Strengthen and promote our "I to the Power of We" framework through the Tough Talkers initiative. Launch the app and reporting system, utilizing the collected data to deliver meaningful support to our partners.

  2. RoadMap to culture change in male-centric spaces. Following our successful implementation with Balfour Beatty Vinci, we have developed a proven culture roadmap designed for male-centric businesses. Building on this success, our focus this year is to partner with at least one more organisation to implement this transformative framework.

  3. We are excited to announce the launch of our new publications: the Journal and the Journal for Young Men (JFYM). Both are ready for printing. This year, our focus will be on selling the Journal to men through our website. We also aim to partner with three organisations to supply them with the JFYM, supporting young men aged 14-24 within their communities.

Structure, governance and management

The charity was registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation with the Charities Commission on 20th March 2023 and is governed by the constitution established on that date.
