## **Achievements and performance** 



|Summary of the main<br>achievements of the<br>charity, identifying the<br>difference the charity’s<br>work has made to the<br>circumstances of its<br>beneficiaries and any<br>wider benefits to society<br>as a whole.|Para 1.20|During the year ended April 2025, we<br>delivered activities aligned with our<br>charitable objectives to reduce health<br>inequalities and improve health<br>outcomes within Caribbean communities<br>in the UK. We provided culturally<br>competent health education through<br>community events, and public<br>engagement activities, addressing<br>conditions that disproportionately affect<br>Caribbean and wider Black populations.<br>Beneficiaries gained increased<br>awareness of health risks, symptoms,<br>and screening, contributing to earlier<br>presentation and improved engagement<br>with NHS services.<br>Our work in supporting future healthcare<br>professionals contributed to the long-<br>term public benefit of a more diverse and<br>representative workforce, which is<br>recognised as an important factor in<br>reducing health inequalities. Wider<br>benefits to society include improved<br>community trust in healthcare systems,<br>strengthened collaboration across health<br>and community organisations, and<br>increased awareness of health equity<br>issues at both community and<br>professional levels.<br>Fundraising and awareness-raising<br>activities during the period increased our<br>visibility and sustainability, enabling<br>reinvestment into community<br>programmes and future initiatives.<br>Importantly, BCDD continued to position<br>itself as a trusted voice in conversations<br>on health equity, representation, and<br>prevention, influencing both community<br>attitudes and professional discourse.<br>The Trustees confirm that the charity’s<br>activities during the year were carried out<br>for the public benefit in furtherance of its<br>charitable purposes.||
