**Objects:** THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO TO BE CARRIED OUT IN PENRITH, CUMBRIA AND THE SURROUNDING AREA ARE: (A) TO PROMOTE SOCIAL INCLUSION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT BY PREVENTING PEOPLE, AND THEIR DEPENDANTS, FROM BECOMING SOCIALLY EXCLUDED, RELIEVING THE NEEDS OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO ARE SOCIALLY EXCLUDED AND ASSISTING THEM TO INTEGRATE INTO SOCIETY. FOR THE PURPOSE OF THIS CLAUSE ‘SOCIALLY EXCLUDED’ MEANS BEING EXCLUDED FROM SOCIETY, OR PARTS OF SOCIETY, AS A RESULT OF DISCRIMINATION OR SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC DISADVANTAGE ON THE GROUNDS OF RACE OR ETHNIC ORIGIN, INCLUDING THOSE WITH REFUGEE OR IMMIGRANT STATUS. (B) THE PREVENTION OR RELIEF OF POVERTY AMONG INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EXCLUDED FROM SOCIETY, OR PARTS OF SOCIETY, AS A RESULT OF DISCRIMINATION OR SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC DISADVANTAGE ON THE GROUNDS OF RACE OR ETHNIC ORIGIN, INCLUDING THOSE WITH REFUGEE OR IMMIGRANT STATUS, THROUGH THE PROVISION OF EMERGENCY GRANTS OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. (C) THE PROMOTION OF EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT BY PROMOTING ACTIVITIES TO FOSTER UNDERSTANDING AND GOOD RELATIONS BETWEEN THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND PEOPLE OF DIFFERENT RACES AND ETHNICITIES, INCLUDING THOSE WITH REFUGEE OR IMMIGRANT STATUS.
