Report of the Trustees

Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team, is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) registered with the Charity Commission on 9[th] March 2023. Its registered base is Unit 3, Area A, Creamery Industrial Estate, Kenlis Rd, Barnacre, Preston, PR3 1GD.

The charitable objectives are to relieve suffering and distress amongst persons endangered by accidents or natural hazards by providing efficient mountain search rescue services for the benefit of any person or persons in need of such services and also promote safety in the outdoors by whatever charitable means the trustees think fit.

The Charity is administered by the Executive Committee, comprising of five trustees, all serving throughout the year, from 01/01/2024 to 31/12/2024.

Chairman Mr David Matthews Secretary Mr Crispin Myerscough Treasurer Mr Clive Shelley Trustee Mr Keith Gillies Trustee Mr Kevin Hindle

The Charity was formed and registered to enable the previous Mountain Rescue charity covering the area (Charity reg. no. 511072) to be able to move away from an unincorporated association of the same name and initially registered in 1980, to a CIO, more fitting to modern charity governance.

The old charity has recently (February 2025) agreed a mechanism of transfer assets to the CIO. It is anticipated that all assets, buildings, funds and membership shall be formally transferred to the CIO during the spring and summer of 2025.

When assets, funds and membership are the responsibility of the CIO then the old charity’s Mountain Rescue services shall fall under the auspices of the new CIO. Being in its infancy with a ‘start-up’ Executive Committee, a fuller structure for the CIO’s governance and operational management will be formulated through 2025.

With a current turnover of less than £25,000, the CIO is not obliged to have the accounts inspected by an independent qualified examiner. The following financial statement is therefore signed as a fair reflection of the Charity’s financial situation by the Charity’s Chairman and Treasurer.
