## **Report of the Trustees**

Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team, is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) registered with the Charity Commission on 9[th] March 2023. Its registered base is Unit 3, Area A, Creamery Industrial Estate, Kenlis Rd, Barnacre, Preston, PR3 1GD.

The charitable objectives are to relieve suffering and distress amongst persons endangered by accidents or natural hazards by providing efficient mountain search rescue services for the benefit of any person or persons in need of such services and also promote safety in the outdoors by whatever charitable means the trustees think fit.

The Charity is administered by the Executive Committee, comprising of five trustees, all serving from the date of incorporation (09/03/2023) to the end of the reporting year, 31/12/2023.

Chairman Mr David Matthews Secretary Mr Crispin Myerscough Treasurer Mr Clive Shelley Trustee Mr Keith Gillies Trustee Mr Kevin Hindle

The Charity was formed and registered to enable the previous Mountain Rescue charity covering the area (Charity reg. no. 511072) to be able to move away from an unincorporated association of the same name and initially registered in 1980, to a CIO, more fitting to modern charity governance.

With the charitable registration being received in March, 2023, the year has seen the new charity prepare for transfer of assets, membership, Mountain Rescue activity and financial activity to the new CIO.

By December 31[st] 2023, the new CIO was still awaiting finalisation from National Westminster Bank on new current and deposit accounts. Consequently, the only financial activity in the year has been the result of a sole £5 cash donation, and no expenditure.

Until membership and assets are transferred from Charity no 511072, Mountain Rescue activity will still occur under the name of the previous charity.

2024 will see further planning for the transfer of membership, Mountain Rescue Activities and assets, with financial activities being moved to the new Charity once bank accounts are in place.

With a turnover of less than £25,000, the CIO is not obliged to have the accounts inspected by an independent qualified examiner.
