Kineara Charity was established in March 2022, with three independent Trustees. The charity is connected to Kineara CIC, a social enterprise that works with vulnerable households, for example those in insecure or temporary accommodation.
For the first year of operation, the charity has focused on developing its strategy, and the Trustees have identified the key risks being:

ability to fundraise sufficient amounts to deliver its strategy

safeguarding of vulnerable adults and children

attracting and retaining talented people to work for the charity

managing its relationship with Kineara CIC
The Trustees have established governance processes to manage these risks, including Safeguarding policies and procedures, Conflict of Interest policy, and bringing in fundraising expertise.

For the first year of Kineara Charity, the Trustees have, for the public benefit, started fundraising activities – including a winter appeal – and developed key relationships within the sector.

The charity has also begun fundraising for its activities, especially towards providing new services to vulnerable households in South London.

For the first year, the principal sources of funding have been individual donations and grants. As these amounts were raised towards the end of the financial year, no expenditure has been committed by the year end; in the next financial year it is planned to raise more funding and begin support activities in South London initially.
