FINANCIAL STATEMENTS
The T￿Stee5 who are also the Directors present their report and financial slatemenls
for Ihe period from incorporation161h March 20231 lo the monlh ended 31 March
2024.
TRUSTEES. RESPONSIBILITIES
The Trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees Report and the financial
statements in accordance wilh applicable law and regulations.
The Trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporling by Chorities..
stalement of Recommended Practice applicable lo charilies preparing their
accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporling Standard applicable in the
UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 leffeclive l January 20191. Under charity and
company law the Truslees musl not approve the financial slatemenls unless
they are satisfied thal Ihey give a true and fair view of the slate of affairs of the
charity and of the surplus or deficit of the charily for that period. In preparing
these financial stalemenls, the Trustees are required to:
Select suilable accounling policies and then apply them consistently;
Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prvdent,.
Prepare the financial statemenls on the going concern basis unless it is
inappropriate lo presume that Ihe company will continue in business.
The Truslees are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records thal are
sufficient lo show and explain the charily's transactions and disclose with
reasonable accuracy at any time the financial posilion of Ihe charity and to
enable them to ensure thot the financial statements comply wilh the Charilies
Acl 2011. They are olso responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity
and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevenlion and deteclion of
fraud and other irregularities.
OBJECTS, ACTIVITIES AND STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES:
Bear Force was established to encourage children of all ages lo lalk about their
worries; to create safe spaces and environmenls where they con talk and be heard;
to provide easily accessible platforms with advice in a format that children can
understand, and to raise awareness of the need for adulls to listen.

The inceplion of Bear Force came about as a result of Ihe bereavemenl by suicide
of the founder Richard Bland's son. Richard approached the Dove Service. a
bereavement chorily, to offer his support in fundraising with a particular focus on
using his aviation hobby thot included a loy bear that was Iravelling the world wilh
its own flight log book. The then CEO helped Richard to lurn the story of the beor
into a book "AB gels his Wings" with the loy bear being named ofter Richard's son.

With the introduction of other Trustees. it was agreed lo redesign the book and lo
include additional narralive so thal it could be used as a therapy tool, particularly as
'di51raclion therapy" in helping younger children identify and talk aboul their worries
and concerns. The book was renamed Bear Force, and the charily was
subsequently formed.
OBJECTS:
The objects of Bear Force are..
'For the public benefil to relieve the needs of children and young people who are
experiencing or who may be at risk of experiencing poor menlal health. their families
and carers by providing early support/intervention and prevention resources and
promoling positive emotional wellbeing through a website and related materials.
ACTIVITIES
Bear Force has undertaken the fdlowing aclivities during Ihe p￿70d under review and
to date..
Redesigned and reprinted Ihe Bear Force book,.
Developed the Bear Force website Iwww.bearforce.or
.ukl as a means lo
promoting awareness of younger children's mental health..
Forged partnerships with key organisations including the Dove Service,
Kidsout and Foslewiki..
Developed a nelwork of Ambassadors who are promoling the work of the
charily and undertaking fundraising on its behalf.,
Commenced the planning of training and interventions Ihat will improve the
emotional wellbeing of younger children, particularly of primary school age..
Crealed and launched "Teddy Bears, Picnic" week for July 81h lo 121h 2024,
with Iolh May being designaled 'National Teddy Bears, Picnic Day" lo
encourage schools and other organisations lo participate in picnics to
promote the importance of children's mental heallh;
Continued wilh the travels of the AB Bear, including Iravelling around Ihe
country with Ihe University Air Squadrons. a visil lo l O Downing Slreel and the
Houses of Parliament.

olher professionals using the Bear Force book in distraction therapy for
children;

ongoing promotion of AB Bear to
highlight the work of Bear Force and the importance of children and young
people's menlal health.
FINANCIAL RESULTS
The Trustees presenl their reporl and accovnts for the period from
incorporation 161h March 20231 to the month ended 31st March 2024. The
financial results show a surplus of £4,377.26.
Income for the period under review is from fundraising activities, donors and
sponsors. Operating costs for the period include the development of the
charity's websile, IT infrastructure and bank charges.
The Truslees recommend that the surplus for the period is transferred to
reserves, thereby commencing their policy of investing all the surplus funds
from Ihe charity's activities inlo fulure activities.

New Trustees are identified through a trustee recruitment and selection process,
bosed on a skills matrix of roles required for Ihe governance of Ihe charity. They are
expected to meet wilh the Chair of Trustees, attend an initial Board meeting as an
observer and undertake Trustee training to familiarise themselves with Ihe charily
and the contextin which il operales.

I report to the charily trustees on my examination of the accounts of Bear Force for
Ihe period 6 March 2023 to 31 March 2024.

As the Irustees of the Charily you are responsible for the preparation of the
accounls in accordance wilh the requirements of the Charilies Act 2011 I'the Act'l.
I report in respect of my examination of Ihe Charity's accounts carried oul under
Section 145 of the Acl and in carrying out my examination I have followed all
applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under Section 14515llbl of
the Act.

I have completed my examinalion. I confirm that no material mallers have come
to my atlention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe thal
in any malerial respect..

ACCOUNTING POLICIES
Basls of preporlng the flnanclal statements
The financial stalemenls of the chorily. which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102,
hove been prepared in accordance with the Chorilies SORP IFRS 1021 'Accounling
and Reporling by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to
charities preparing their accounts in accordance wilh Ihe Financial Reporling
standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 leffective l January
20191,. Financial Reporling Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland, and the Charilies Acl 2011. The
financial slatement5 have been prepared under the hi51orical cost convention.
Income
All income is recognised in Ihe Stalement of Financial Activities once the charity has
entillemenl to the funds, it is probable that the income will be received and the
amount can be measured reliobly.
Expendlture
Liabilities are recognised as expendilure as soon as there is a legal or conslructive
obligation commilting the charity to that expenditure. it is probable that a transfer of
economic benefits will be required in seltlement and the amount of the obligation
can be measured reliably. Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and
has been classified under headings Ihot aggregale all cost related to the category.
Where costs cannot be directly atlribuled to particular headings they have been
allocated to activilies on a basis con51Stent with the use of resources.
Taxatlon
The charity is exempt from tax on its charitable activilies.
Fund accountlng
Unreslricted funds can be used in accordance wilh the charitable objeclives at Ihe
discretion of the trustees.
Restricted funds can only be used for particular reslricted purposes within the objecls
of the charily. Reslriclions arise when specified by the donor or when funds are
raised for parlicular restricled purposes.
